Tabby: Didn't Daddy say something about a surprise on Monday?

Ann: Monday was yesterday. Nothing surprising happened.

Tabby: But I though he said...

Ann: You know what? I thought he did, too. Maybe he didn't mean to. <gasp> What if he's under some sort of spell that makes him say things he doesn't mean?!?

Tabby: I doubt it. I wonder what the surprise was going to be?

Ann: (not listening) Oh, I hope he's okay! What if we can't undo it? What if he has to say things he doesn't mean for the rest of his life? What if the spell gets worse over time? Oh, no!

Kelly: (looking out the window) Why is that lady trying to hide somebody with a coat?

Tabby: What?

Kelly: Look... See, that lady is trying to hide somebody with a coat.

Tabby: Let's go ask her!

Ann: NO!!!!

Kelly: Daddy? Why is that lady trying to hide somebody with a coat?

 

[The Count]

Well... That lady is Ms. Mingostone, the nanny who looks after your twin cousins. That man, she said was her brother Jack. He seems to have a bit of a shady past. I don't want you three going near him, not without Daddy or Mommy around. And that goes double for you Tabby. I know your "curious" nature sometimes gets the better of you, but I'm trying to look out for you. So please... no going up to that strange man while Daddy or Mommy aren't around.

Now then as for the surprise and spell... Not under a spell that makes me say things I don't mean. Didn't I just give you that speech about Mr. Jack Mingostone?
Well, I meant it. And there was a surprise last night.
*Looks at Kelly. *Whispering: Good job on keeping it secret from the others.
The surprise was that wonderful fireworks show we saw last night. Remember? With the faces of the Muppets, and then the letters of the alphabet in the night sky? That was the surprise.
Now then, Daddy has to get breakfast ready and then I'll be leaving to do some errands down at the post office. If you want, you three can play indoors in your playroom. We might have another good story when I get back later in the afternoon.

*Whispering again to Kelly... What sort of charm would you like dear?
Will try to get it by the time I get back.

*Sets off to prepare cereal for all family members.

Ann and Tabby: Oh..... Fireworks.........

Tabby: Those were cool

Ann: Those were scary

Tabby: They were pretty!

Ann: They were loud.

Tabby: They were Muppets!

Ann: They were... okay you win. They were cool.

Tabby: Ha!

Ann: Daddy, I'm so glad you're not under a spell.

Kelly: Me too.

Tabby: Me three!

Ann: What are you talking about, we're not even one yet.

Tabby: Oh, never mind.

Kelly: Another story, Daddy?

Ann: Ooh, what's it about?

Tabby: Tell us, Daddy, tell us!

Kelly: <whispers> Daddy, I think I might like a cloud charm, please, maybe?

*walks past the Cole household, and arrives home*

Good morning Officer.

*waves to Mingostone and Jack*

Good Morning, Miss Mingostone.

*to officer*

She's the nanny. Now, you were saying about this car? No, I havn't seen it before. No, goodness me no, we havn't had any new additions to the villiage since that crazy woman moved in next door. No, that was twenty years ago. Yes, she died. Hmm...well, you could tow it away, I suppose. Yes, goodbye.

*heads towards Nanny*

Morning Jack.

*Sees Mr. Moppet*

Err... Hi Bo. Wanna go with us to eat breakfast at the café?

*Pushes Jack and Bo into the car, jumps into it herself and closes the door behind her*

I suppose you want to, Bo.

*Drives away*

*Whispering back to Kelly... An excellent choice.

*Doleing out bowls. Well, since you girls are a month old now, thought it'd be time to expand your diets a bit. This, is cereal. It's made of grains that are good for you, and it comes in either flakes or little rings or all sorts of shapes. Some people like to add fruits like bananas or raisins into their cereal, but we'll start you off with just the cereal for now. There's plenty of milk in the bowl, and an extra bottle for when you get thirsty.
As for the story... Well, you remember what I taught you about rain storms and rainbows? Well, have you ever wondered... What's on the Other Side?
Robin the Frog did and he lept into a grand adventure. When I get back from my errands later this afternoon, we can start that thrilling new story. Especially since the author has decided to use it as the first book in a series of stories. The second book's been announced for publication but hasn't been released yet. But we're getting ahead of ourselves. Finish your cereal and I'll help get you washed and dressed for the playroom.

Ann: See-ree-all....

Kelly: Cereal.

Tabby: (eating some) Yum!

Kelly: (tries a little) Hm... not bad!

Ann: ....See-ree-all....

Tabby: Oh, just eat it!

Ann: (tastes a little bit) oh, that's kind of good!

*to Nanny*

Ah, yes, I'll join you for brekfast. Is it safe though to leave the sleepign twins? Oh, I'm sure they'll be fine. If they want us, they'll probably find us...

*At the Cole Family's playroom...
Yes, the ce-re-al was good wasn't it? And you got a big bottle of milk with it too.
Now, you're dressed for a fun day here in the playroom. Mommy will watch over you while I go and do some errands. We'll read our story when I get back.
*Hugs each girl, and kisses Izzy good-bye.
