My last computer was pretty much dying: it was barely puttering along on 512MB RAM and what have you, not to mention it was slowly succumbing to viruses that joke McAfee failed to prevent from happening and even Spyboy couldn't completely remove . . . its demise was inevitable.
Now, however, my current computer doesn't have those problems: my browsers have multiple adblockers from prevent the viruses and what have you, and I have a ton more RAM and diskspace (though I am aware that 8GB RAM is turning into the new 512MB), and just about the only thing I do that could bog down my computer from time to time is working in Adobe Premiere . . . otherwise, I'm nearly vigilant about making sure this machine remains in tip-top shape, so I really don't know why I'm slowly starting to see random and unexpected problems, unless six years is just the average lifespan for a laptop.
Of course, there's still the possibility that Microsoft is screwing around with me for still using Windows 7.
