Fang: As for getting that bridle off...I have no idea where Rex put the key, or if he has it with him. Whatever caused the transformation this time at least left him with some of his own brain...we might as well just leave it on him until we can get the milk. At least then he won't change and not know what he's doing...

Some of this reminds me of how, just before we returned, we learned that we actually escaped from Lekton with the help of an alien scientist who had turned against her own race and decided to free us. I think that she was one of the more active aliens in doing tests and things on all of us that they had...
