I suppose Zim frightened too many parents.
He was meant to. IZ was created by Johnen Vasquez--creator of Johnny the Homicidal Maniac--after all, and IZ was supposed to be the type of show where people rooted for the bad guy (i.e. Zim) in that due to the problems of the world (the ignorant & stupidity of people being one), people would want to see Zim conquer Earth. Heck, for the finale, JV wanted to kill Dib off in typical JV fashion (i.e. dismembered and in graphic, visual detail), but due to Nick's family standards--which angered JV--both Nick's execs and JV both chose to end the show prematurely (with JV saying that he'd never work in animation--especially for networks like Nick--again).

Of course, he was pretty naive to think that something like that could get on Children's television, cable or not. You can't even kill someone. You can't even say they're dead half the time. He really should have sold to air on MTV. The horror stories I could tell you. They did the same thing to John K.

Yeah, John K. and Billy West are not on good terms with each other these days. This having to do with John's fallout with Nick.

Zim should have been on Cartoon Network along side shows like Venture Brothers. Talk about creative freedom. Zim's DVD special features talks about Jhonen Vasquez' deviation from traditional linear storytelling in favor of a more avant-garde approach. He had battles on many fronts, but it is a shame that he reportedly will not go back into animation. He should - there is an audience. I think he could hammer out a deal like Futurama to make a few DVD specials to also be chopped up and aired on a cable station. The world of animation has changed since his departure and Zim’s status has grown too.

But what's stopping him from doing his own online animation? There's no one to tell you what to do, and since a lot of JV's fans are netheads, it would be a perfect marriage.

But then, what was he expecting in the US? We have some of the most rediculous censorship laws in a democratic country (the silliest trophy would go to England for their "Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles" nonsense).

Though it stands to be said, John K, as much as I like his work, is pretty much an impossible person. I respect it, though. he knows what he wants, but it has really kept him from having a steady show for years. he once proposed a show for CN, and declined because they wanted to change the name.

Yeah! I know that you mean about him being impossible, but he is now staring to except *gasp* New animation! I know he has really hated anything except older animation for the longest time or anything new for that matter. But yeah.

I DID have to sit through an ad, so I hate you!

Not really.

That was weird, but then again, most "munked up" songs are.

The weird thing is, unlike most Munked songs, it sounds almost EXACTLY like the actual chipmunks. It's funny to hear them speaking Japanese, but I guess its funnier if you like Dragonball.

Had I known how to do it, I'd make some myself. Especially with Kinnikuman Go Fight.
