But new performers have to invoke some of themselves into the characters, otherwise, if they try to do just a straight-up imitation of the previous performer's way of playing the character, then it's just that: an imitation, nothing more. And when that happens, then people would complain even more that the replacement perform is either "trying too hard," or "not trying hard enough," or even, "just not as good as. . . ."
I mean, again, I honestly can't imagine what Telly or Snuffy would be like if Marty Robinson just kept doing straight-up imitations of Brian and Jerry, respectively, with the characters like he did in the beginning.
Kermit is too much of Jim's alter ego, and in order for anyone to play Kermit like Jim, they would pretty much have to think and act like Jim, and the only one who can do that is Jim.
