I don't think so...they called him "Commander" often, but just for brevity of speech. I'm pretty sure he was still a Lt. Commander as of Star Trek: Nemesis.

Could be wrong.

data was lieutentant commander from the first episode of the next generation to the current startrek movie, nemesis and was never promoted to commander.

lieutenant commanders can be called by that or simply refered to as commander....tuvok, worf, laforge, and jadzia dax were all lieutenant commanders and were often referred to as commanders just to shorten the dialogue someone might say to them...

And speaking of our yellow-eyed pal....

If Jim Henson had been involved with Star Trek, do you think they would have used a human actor to bring the android to life, or do you think they would have used the Creature Shop?

Personally, I think the latter would contain many variants of nifty.

Stardate 3.142567375038934... Destination: Koozebaine

i think jim henson would never touch something like star trek. but if henson was envolved, no way would data be from the creature shop....it would get to silly...ya star trek can get silly at times, but having some sort of muppet data on the bridge would have been asking just a little to much or if there was a muppet data to go on away teams and so on. honestly, i doubt if henson himself would tackle something that has nothing in commen with the muppets..

ok, i'm not like trekkie nerd or anything like that, or dress up as a star trek alien, or have a star trek uniform, or can quote who did what or who said what in an episode! but i've been following the downfall of star trek for a while now and it seems that the new trek show, enterprise, might get canceled because of it's low ratings..and the fact that star trek nemesis did so bad at the box office may make star trek fade into dust in the next few years...

it's funny, the muppets and star trek, 2 great organizations, are at a very weak state right now. sad stuff......

Real sad.

Enterprise is the number one show on UPN. But, that's not saying much. If Enterprise gets canceled, that means EVERY OTHER SHOW on UPN would get canceled as well. Not very surprising, but un-likely.

I can picture Jim Henson tackeling something comletely un-associated with the Muppets. There was the Storyteller, but I suppose that doesn't count as it did use puppets. But, Jim Henson wanted to be a film maker. Not just a puppeteer. After all, he did do Timepiece. Totally unrelated to the Muppets other than that it was weird.

Couldn't picture him getting involved in Star Trek, let alone Star Wars (although, he may have as a favor to George Lucas).

I see nothing wrong in owning a Starfleet uniform or alien makeup kit. I own a puppet of Kermit, and am trying to find the stuff needed to make a replica of what Scooter wore. Maybe even a Kermit costume. Just something people like to do.

Now, I do see a problem with learning the Klingon language by heart, studying it's ways, and living by them. That just plain requires some sort of medical attention. (or the :embarrassed: depending on how you take that)

So, friends...

Qa'pla!

It is also one of the moost, if not the most expensive show on UPN. That means that for Enterprise to do as well as say "Girlfriends", they have to make maybe twice the ratings. It could still be canceled but it still isn't likely because UPN realizes that without Star Trek it has nothing.

ok i read thise from some site. it said since that enterprise has been losing ratings, and because it's not exciting enough, rick berman said that enterprise is about to have a lot of episodes where there are huge battle scenes and people die and half the ship gets blown up; well not half but you get the idea!..all of this has to due with the current state of star trek....sounds like they're going to try to do what ds9 did back in the last few seasons..so if enterprise continues for another year, things maybe heating up a bit, which is good..

Enterprise can never get better because of Berman/Braga's reckless disregard for Trek these days. All of the deliberate screwing up of known Trek history renders this series irrelevant (so the Russians met the Vulcans in 1957 and Zephram Cochrane means nothing?). When they're not screwing up Trek history, they're retreading stories we've seen a thousand times (oooh, a pregnant man...again). Scott Bakula does the best he can with the weak scripts, but...

Hopefully, this show will go away soon and be forgotten about, like Galactica 1980. Then someone with a fresh vision can tell us a new Trek story.

I so wish they'd start showing DS9 again already. I can't wait till TNN gets the show in 2004!

Super Scooter: You mentioned Far Beyond the Stars. Is that the one where Sisko imagines himself as a science fiction writer in the 1950s? I really want to see that one.

I'm coming in at the end of this thread, but I noticed Tom's lambasting of one of my favorite shows on TV.. Enterprise.

I love it. I think it's fantastic. A wonderfully fresh spin on the Trek franchise with the potential to only get better.

And they haven't been re-writing Trek history. They've been telling stories that fit in just fine with recorded history, but throwing us a few surprises we didn't know about.

Hoshi's my favorite character. I'm hoping for some more stories focusing on her soon.

Unfortunately though, because the show's ratings have dropped slightly and fan reactions have been so cruel, I heard that B&B intend on changing the show's direction, which is really too bad. They needn't listen to fan reactions so much since the most vocal are obviously going to be the ones who don't like it (I mean, how often to you get vocal fans who love the show unless it's in danger fo being cancelled?).

In any case, I'll be looking forward to the future adventures of the NX-01 as I've enjoyed Captain Archer's voyage thus far.
