I've wondered if these two inserts were filmed the same day.... Given how Ray has a red shirt on in both.

I'm pretty sure all segments with particular guest stars were all filmed in one day.
Yeah, that's correct. It's like with "Monster in the Mirror" - all the celebrities in the video are wearing the same exact clothing as in the individual spots they filmed for that season. Season 27 had the same scenario, except it was the Alphabet Song that year.

The Alphabet Song was actually Season 28, not 27.

The Elmo and Ray insert being as early as season 27, with Chris Barton's outfit from a song actually being in season 27 insisting the former is also from said season would say otherwise.

According to Muppet Wiki, the earliest known appearance of The Alphabet Song was Episode 3526 which was Season 28.
