Rumor: The Muppet Wizard of Oz

Oz rumor is apparently true according to Secret Squirrel. It will appear on ABC next year. While it's not my first choice, I have high hopes that they'll do something creative with the story. The Oz theme could also bring current non-fans into the Muppet fan fold.

Dram Dram Dram!!!! Not only will this thing actually see the light of day, but it will be on a network that I can't tape because it doesn't even come in that good... CRAP HECK DARN!!!!

While I would personally rather see a new and original Muppet movie plot, I can envision the Muppets adding and enriching the WOZ plot quite smoothly. I was honestly wondering when someone was going to remake WOZ -- I knew it would be coming someday, but I never dreamt it would be Muppets!

Who better to revise their creator's favorite film of all time? I think it would be a wonderful tribute to Jim.

I wouldnt mind so much...its just this means all their performers will be spent focused on this and not much else...and then this is what they will be promoting on the eve of the FIFTYETH Annv Year? No no no...between this news and the closing of the NY HQ I fell sad. This better be one darn edgy reenvisioning of that story I tell yeah...real edgy.

I think this is one of the first times tht I am agreeing with you Beaker, but I'd rather they made a PG if nec. edgy film, than some dumb feel-good, re-make of Wizard of Oz. If they are going to do a remake do something else I say.

I fervently wish they'd write a good solid original script and storyline for the Muppets as themselves.

Me too. Or use Super Scoter, Sarah, Pez, Sal and my Screenplay. That is super cool, and envolves all the characters in a fun, exciting, and well struchered plot envolving excitment, original songs, and many Muppet Show, and Muppet film's referances. Too cool.
