One commercial that got on my nerves was The Energizer bunny commercials. "Still going, Nothing outlasts the energizer. They keep going and going and going..." And they would often start out like it's a totally different commercial and then suddenly that dang bunny beating the drum and those words again. But by contrast, I liked the previous energizer commercials they used to do (from about the early 80's) where they would say, "The energizer, energize... for life. Long life. Energize me!"

And any "I Love Lucy" fans remember the commercial for the fictitious Phipps department store?

Ohhhhh,
When we go on shopping trips
Where else would we go but Phipps?
From the top floor to the bottom
If it's bargains Phipps has got'em
Down at Phipps your credit's great
Ask today for a Phipps-a-plate
First on your list of shopping trips ... put ...
P-H-I-P-P-S Phipps!

That last line was Lucy's but instead she chose to say, "Phipps is a great big bunch of gyps!"

If it's fictitious commercials you want, one need look no further than "WKRP in Cincinatti"...

Ferryman's, Ferryman's
He's the man with the plot, the man with the plan
Ferryman's, Ferryman's
He's the mortician man who loves you...
a lot!

Naw, they're GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRREAT! Interesting how many catchy cereal commercials there were. Like, "always after my Lucky Charms. Pink hearts, yellow moons, orange stars, green clovers, and blue diamonds."
And Circus Fun: "Horses, hoops, balls, bears, elephants, and lions."
And, "The unsinkable taste of cheerios.."
"Watch me trick Fred out of his Fruity Pebbles."
"Just follow your nose. It always knows."
"Frankenberry! Count Chocola! And, Boo!berry. Ohhh Ohhh!"

There was another regional one (New York City) for the Milford Plaza that I thought had a real catchy rendition of the song, "The lullaby of Broadway.":

"C'mon along I'll take you to, the lullaby of Broadway
*dih dih dih*
The hip hooray and bally hoo
The lullaby of Broadway
And in the center of it all
Is the Milford Plaza
*dih,dih, dih, dihdihdihdihDIHHHH *
The Milford Plaza is the lullaby of all Broadway!"

Aah, remember the McCain fries commercials that were made in like the 70's with the boy with thick red glasses and a shirt like Ernie's, eating fries, and they've played them for years and years? Those are so annoying. They showed those again a few years ago. Then they made NEW ones and it's the same guy all grown up saying, "I sure did love my fries" or something really dumb like that.
