Because this was back in the day when twitter didn’t exist and people didn’t complain about this.
Well, Bob Dorough was sure he wasn't able to sing "Verb: That's What's Happening" and decided they definitely needed a black singer. I mean, Dorothy does a good job, and people aren't able to figure out if she's white or black. It's also more that the girl doesn't have a voice and this is just a narrator doing the voices of everyone.

The girl was actually the inspiration for the Lost Media Wiki's mascot, LMW-tan. She also reminds me of my OC Martha...

I never noticed that! I love LMW but I never made the connection between the mascot and the girl from this sketch. That's very interesting!
