Bump. Here comes some more

CHAPTER 3

When Pops reached the Muppet Theater with Bill, they entered and asked Fozzie where Hilda was. He told them that she was inside her old wardrobe mistress dorm reminiscing with Kermit and Scooter. Pops said "I hope they won't mind but I have something very important to say to her."
Fozzie looked at the bouquet and the card and stammered "Oh I-I-I-I see." Pops strode briskly past the amazed bear followed by Bill heading for Hilda's old dorm.

Hilda, Kermit and Scooter were all engaged in conversation when there came a knock-knock at the door. "Who is it?" asked Scooter.
"It's me Pops. I have something I really wish to say to Hilda please. May I come in?"
Hilda said "It's alright my friends. He can come in."

So Scooter opened the door and Pops entered, approached Hilda and fell on one knee. "Hilda," he said to the astonished old woman muppet. "I have been smitten with your beauty right from the moment I met you. These are for you."
He handed her the gifts and she took them joyfully. "Oh Pops," she said. "I love roses." She sniffed them. "They are so beautiful, thank you." Then she opened the card and read it. "Of course I'll be yours you dear sweet old man. I admire you for openly coming out to me in the presence of Scooter and Kermit here."

The Frog and the Go-fer were impressed with Pop's courage as well. Pops said "There's one more thing for you dear Hilda. This is Bill, the man I bought the card and flowers from and he has something else."
Bill entered the room and waved hello. "I always say the best way my clients can express their affection for each other is to allow me to provide some bubbles in their honour. So here goes." Hilda, Scooter and Kermit were all amazed as Bill blew heaps upon heaps of bubbles right out of the top of his head. Yes Bill had had a great, big drink to get him ready for this of course. A huge drink of bubble-blowing liquid. And he blew. And he blew. And he blew until he'd used up all the bubble juice he'd taken into his system. Hilda laughed with joy and threw her arms around Pops kissing him on both cheeks.
"Oh you dear sweet man. That was so beautiful."

She proposed that they go out dancing that night. Pops was overjoyed and they left to get themselves ready leaving Bill with Kermit and Scooter. Kermit said with awe "That's an amazing trick."
Scooter added "You know, you could probably fit right in with our show with an act like that."
Bill replied "You know I have considered applying for show business one day. I though maybe I could call myself Bill and his Bubble-Blower Head or Bill the Bubble Man or something similar to that."
"Sounds like a good idea. Why don't I call my Uncle J.P.Grosse?"
Kermit was aghast at the thought. But he knew from experience how wise it was not to argue with J.P. if he said yes to something. And J.P. usually went along with Scooter. Oh well he'd had nearly five years of facing lunacy. This wouldn't make all that much difference. He hoped anyway that Pops and Hilda would enjoy themselves that night.

CHAPTER 4

So getting back to Hilda and Pops, they both made themselves ready for their date. Pops was already dressed so he just washed his face, shaved himself and combed his fringe of hair. As for Hilda, she dived into the shower and out as quickly as possible and put on a beautiful, creamy-white dancing gown and applied lipstick and perfume. Then they departed the theater arm in arm and went to the dancing hall. They were in absolute bliss as they pranced around together in each other's arms. They stared into each others' faces with big smiles. Romance was in the air that night.

After dancing they had a candle-lit dinner in the fancy restaurant next door. Pops paid for Hilda's meal as a special treat. Hilda was so happy. She knew she felt so much love for Pops. She would have to go back to Romania though. Her homeland simply beckoned her like a magnet. Pops was so churned up inside. He just simply had to ask Hilda a very important question.
"Hilda," he began nervously. "Meeting you has been a wonderful thing for me. You are so very beautiful and I would be so pleased to spend whatever remaining time we both have with you. So uh would you like to uh," his face turned beetroot-red and he started to tremble unable to speak anymore.

But Hilda understood what he was trying to say and replied sadly. "You mean the same sort of special significance to me as well Pops. But I couldn't live here. My own country means so much to me. Not that I don't feel true love for you but I would never the less miss being in Romania. Could you come with me?" asked she with hope gleaming in her eyes.
Pops face grew very sad. "I could gladly go to Romania with you Hilda, if it were not for the fact that the Theater feels so strongly like home to me as long as I still have a guaranteed job there. I could leave the theater if my doorman job was gone for some reason but while I still have it I could never bring myself to leave for anything. But I really do love you dearly." he added sadly.
"And I you." replied Hilda with sorrow.

They were both extremely quiet for a little while after that. Then Pops said putting on a brave face. "Well I shall always treasure the memory of our date tonight."
"And so shall I" Hilda had tears welling up in her eyes but she held them in and said "How about one more dance before we go back to the Theater?" Pops was elated despite the ache in his heart and the two of them enjoyed one last dance in the hall before sadly escorting each other back to the Muppet Theater.

Oh, a real dilema for both of them! Choose love or loyalty to other things? I hope this story has a happy ending, I've enjoyed it Marty!

I'm delighted to read both of your enthusiastic comments my friends. Thanks:smile:

Yes I do intend to post the conclusion very soon and I already know exactly how it will end. I won't give too much away but the ending will tie in also with the fact that Bill the Bubble Guy never appeared with his extraordinary act on the Muppet Show at all.

Some of you like minor muppetz may have some idea already about the ending:wink: but I won't say anything definite personally until I prepare and give you my conclusion.

Okay here comes the conclusion. I'll be working on it editing this post tonight.

CHAPTER 5

As Pops and Hilda arrived back at the theater with heavy hearts they were met by Fozzie Bear and Lew Zeeland. "Kermit told us to meet you both as soon as you got back." said Fozzie.
"Yeah. Something very serious has just happened." added Lew. "He wants us all to meet him in the stage area to tell everybody what it is."
Fozzie said with concern in his voice, "He did not seem very happy."
Pops and Hilda forgot all about their own problems thinking about what could possibly be the matter with Kermit.
So they and all the other muppets sat down in the audience seats while the Frog stood upon the stage to address them one and all.

He was very unhappy as he struggled to find his words. "Uh ladies and gentlemen, pigs and dogs and chickens and monsters. Um this is very difficult to tell you but the point is simply that our show is to be ah cancelled."
A huge gasp erupted from all the cast and everybody started talking all at once wanting to know why.
Kermit called for quiet and when they were settled he explained how Scooter had recently phoned his uncle J.P.Grosse, the owner of the theater, to ask about the possibility of auditioning Bill, a man with the ability to blow bubbles out of the top of his head. However Scooter had some unfortunate news that he would now announce personally.
So Kermit motioned for Scooter to come out and stand next to him and deliver the bad news.
Scooter said "While my uncle liked the idea of Bill's bubble blowing act he told me that he has decided to sell the Theater to some people who intend to convert it into a bar and disco nightclub business. So we have had to cancel our show. The deal has been made and they come in three days time to claim it. We must be all packed up and vacated before then."

The Muppets were all very sad but it could not be helped. But Hilda and Pops were excited. They made their way out of their seats up onto the stage as fast as their elderly bodies could go and Pops cried out "Kermit! I have some news of my very own."
Kermit said "What may that be Pops?"
Puffing to catch his breath Pops took Hilda's hand joyfully saying "While it is a shame to see the show come to the end of its five year run, and I certainly enjoyed my time here as doorman greeting the guest stars during the final year, however I have some good news. Since my services will no longer be required here I am completely happy to go over to Romania with Hilda when her holiday is finally over where she and I will be married."
All the Muppets cheered with joy for the happy old couple as they embraced and kissed each other onstage in front of all of them. Despite the sadness this was something to be thankful for indeed.
