Here's a prologue for another idea I've had

PROLOGUE

It was a Saturday and Pops the Doorman was spring-cleaning his work area after the last Muppet Show last Friday night. He was sweeping out the floor in his area behind his cubby window ledge where he always greeted the guest stars and Kermit was talking to him on the outside. "You know Pops you don't really have to do this. It's what we pay Beauregard to do."

"I know Kermit but I just like taking care of my own space." replied Pops cheerfully.

Just then an old lady with grey hair and large glasses came through the entrance where the guest stars always entered. "Hello Kermit." she cheerfully cried in a Romanian accent.

"Hilda!" Kermit's eyes grew extra bulgey and he ran into the old woman's arms embracing her.
Pops was amazed. "Who're you?" he asked.

Kermit answered "Pops. This is Hilda. She used to be our wardrobe mistress for a year then she grew homesick for her home country and went back home so we ended up doing all our wardrobe business with Bender and Sons tailor company." He introduced Hilda to Pops who shook his hand.

"I was missing all of you and I thought I'd pay you a surprise visit." she explained.

"Well that's lovely Hilda. Everybody will be so delighted." said Kermit.

"Is Bunsen Honeydew still around?"

"Oh yes. And he even got himself a lab assistant after you left."

"Really. Bunsen has an assistant now? What is he like?"

"Just wait until you meet him Hilda. Believe me. You'll never forget him. Come on. Let's let the gang know you've turned up."

Hilda laughed and said "Nice to meet you Pops." as she followed Kermit.
However Pops could not answer. He could only stand there with his mouth hanging open. The broom slipped out of his grasp and clattered to the floor but he didn't notice it. Spring-cleaning was the farthest thing from his mind now. Pops had fallen in love.

I'm very pleased you like my concept. I'm just going offline now to work on my Super Grover fan fic then I'll post it. And I'll bring you more of this also eventually.

This is a good start. It's interesting that you had Hilda ask about Bunsen, as they never interracted on the show (of course, in the first season, Bunsen rarely appeared backstage while Hilda rarely appeared on-stage). It would have been interesting if you had a similar line about The electric Mayhe, like this:

"Are Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem still performing the music here?", asked Hilda.

"Yes", said Kermit.

"Is the band still the same as it was when I left?", asked Hilda.

"Well, not only are all of the original members still with us", said Kermit, "But they've also got a trumpet player."

"Wow", said Hilda, "And I guess I'll never forget him once I meet him, right?"

"Well, uh, I don't know about that", said Kermit.

The "Bender and Sons" tailor company sounds interesting. Did you randomly name a tailor company, or was this company mentioned in an episode of the show, or will this company have some significance in the story?

I just made up the name of the tailor company. I don't think there ever really was any explanation for the theater's wardrobe requirements after Hilda left let alone any explanation for Hilda's disappearance in the first place.

And yes it's true Hilda and Bunsen never interacted on any episode though it's perfectly reasonably conceivable that the cast all knew each other intimately off screen never the less.

Anyway now that my Super-Grover story is finished I want to seriously think about how I'm going to tell this story then I'll start posting some of it.

I guess that's reasonable. Though now that I think of it, it would have been funny if there had been an episode where Hilda wanted to do something on-stage, and was so desperate that she agreed to assist Bunsen in an experiment (and become the victim). Heck, she could have offered to assist The Swedish Chef in a sketch.

Well it's been a long time but I have finally written an update to this story

CHAPTER 1

Everybody was very happy to see Hilda. Some of the old gang were gone though. Wayne and Wanda had been fired by Kermit and were no longer performing, though they were now married and living in a nice apartment in town. Kermit had taken enough pity on them however to offer Wayne occasional solo roles on the show for a bit of money to live on. So between this and Wanda's job as a check-out girl at the supermarket they managed to gain a reasonable income for themselves. George the Janitor had retired and gone to live with his brother overseas in Australia. Mildred was running her own hotel and restaurant business in Spain.

There were also a lot of new faces. She had to agree with Kermit that Bunsen's lab assistant Beaker was unforgettable. She couldn't help but smile as he shook her hand and mee-mee-meeped his greetings to her. She also met Link Hogthrob and Julius Strangepork who told them all about their roles in the sci-fi recurring sketch "Pigs in Space" with Miss Piggy. Link also mentioned the role he played in "Bear on Patrol" as Fozzie's commanding officer. Finally the Electric Mayhem all said a heartwarming hello to her and introduced their sixth member, Lips the trumpet player. She was so overjoyed to meet all the new faces and hear about how the show had continued to improve its variety of acts and sketches when she was gone away.

Kermit told the Swedish Chef to prepare a big lunch that day at one pm to celebrate Hilda's surprise visit. So they all sat down to a sumptious feast at two large tables placed together side by side. Even Wanda had come with her husband Wayne for lunch to see Hilda. The monsters though had their own private table under Sweetums's direction so they wouldn't disturb the others with their gruntings and other noises that monsters commonly make.

Kermit sat next to Hilda at the tables and announced for everyone to give their attention to her. Hilda gave a little speech of thanks for her kind welcome saying what her life over in Romania was like and how she had often thought about them all wondering how they were keeping. But Pops was so enraptured with her that he hardly heard a word she said. He knew he just simply had to ask her out on a date with him.

This is wonderful Martin! I love that you have brought Hilda into the story! Nice descriptions of what happened to some of the other characters from Season one as well! Looking forward to what's next!
