I have to admit, I dig Rugrats... mainly for the adults and Chuckie... but it was never one of my favorites. I think it's over rated in as much as they were marketing the shell out of it in the 90's, and stuff like CatDog and Angry beavers never really got half as much attention. CatDog was moderately popular, but Beavers wasn't all that popular. And it really is underrated (that's for another thread...) and it's Nick Bakay's finest role. Salem the cat NOTHING.

I'm gonna add one more because it bugged me today. Beyblade: Why, you ask? Well, as a rule I'm not all that fond of those Japanese series we get over here about monster card dice or top battles to begin with... I'm sorry, I'm a Fist of the North Star/Kinnikuman/Saint Seyia man. I like to see people fight each OTHER. I can't say I care all that much for Pokemon, though I still like the cat... YuGiOh I never really liked either, but at least it was a comic before it was a TCG... but Beyblade REALLY rubs me the wrong way now because it's the ONLY Tatsunoko (production company) show that anyone in the US has currently picked up. You'd think after Tatsunoko vs Capcom SOMEONE would at least get the rights to the New Yatterman at least... I hear someone actually got Casshan Sins... But other than that, Beyblade and Bakugan rub me the wrong way. No wonder so many people dislike Japanese shows.

I know we all said Reality TV, but I think I should be specific about what makes them over rated.

The fact that they make people famous for being famous. The Jersey Shore gangbangers...errrr... guys have Bobblehead figures. I'm sorry. But what exactly did they accomplish to become toys? I'm sure someone heard the biased Insider/Entertainment Tonight news about Whoopi Goldberg yelling at one of the Real House Hoes of DC.... I'm sorry, but I'm going with the Oscar winning comedienne with the 20+ year career (even though she's rapidly evolving into Slappy the Squirrel) over some **** the producers picked out of a line of money and media hungry 40 something wannabes. And the fact that she thinks that she was so important. Almost as to say "Do you know who I AM?" Yes, we ALL know who you are... someone that'll be lucky to be at a car wash opening when another vain bimbo becomes an instant celebrity by being there.

I'm sorry, but we whine and bemoan how we're losing our morals and values system... unless you want to see a REAL end to reality TV, then you're full of hot air. If an actual show did what these guys do on a daily basis in an episode, the show would get millions of complain letters calling for the producers to resign. When they do immoral and boarderline soft core pornographic stuff on a reality show, it's "delicious" and "A train wreck that we can't look away from." Wow! People SUUUURE love their mangled up corpses.

If we want TRUE morals, we need to STOP rewarding people like this with instant celebrity and action figures and parodies in terrible parody movies that makes them even MORE famous and doesn't take them down a peg at all. We need to reward people who work HARD to become what they are, especially since so many of them get unnoticed, and wind up broken hearted with their dreams shattered.

Well, on the adult front:

House- Never got the popularity of this show. And it's main character may very well be one of the least likable characters ever put on television.

Family Guy- If House is the most unlikable character, this show has one of the most unlikable TV families (They make the family from Married....with Children look like the Tanners from Full house!). Another show I never got the insane popularity of. The jokes are either stupid, rude, obvious, or just bad, the characters are all jerks (and the only decent main character the writers were too lazy to try to write for...oy), and word of advice, guys: just because something existed doesn't make it funny to mention it. Pull the plug, already....

Friends- I remember when this show ended (I was about 17 at the time), and I was GLAD. Easily one of the most boring shows I've ever seen (and are we really supposed to believe that there isn't a single person of color in Manhattan? Don't insult my intelligence...).

The Simpsons- Okay, as much as I love this show, it's time to pull the plug (though I would like to see an episode of Lisa going vegan!).

On the kids front:

Anything on the Disney Channel

Anything on Cartoon Network these days (especially the recent live action shows they've come out with. Remember the stinkin' channel's name, folks!)

I totally agree on Spongebob. It started off hilarious, but now, it's just gotten stupid. Just put it out of it's misery.

iCarly. It's probably Nickelodeon's most popular show at the moment, but when I watch it, it just strikes me as the kind of thing networks make when they think children will watch anything, so it's popularity blows my mind.

It's overrated for me because only Britcom nerds really know Huge Laurie's body of work outside of the series. I watched it myself, and I WAS pleasantly surprised, but can't get over the fact he was the foppish idiot Prince in Black Adder III

I thought she was. personally, I want to see an episode where the writers DON'T use her for their "We're so much better than you" soapbox. Lisa is one of my least favorite characters on the show because of this. And in no way is Cletus funny. Kill HIM off.

I'd almost agree, but I feel the cartoon shows are quite underrated and hate that they're constantly up for cancellation. They yanked Chowder out of their line up, Lucy and the football style, and that show was SUPPOSED to save the network. The things that are overrated, I agree are the lame live action swill, and I'll add good 90% of their adult swim Line up (I do like ATHF, though but Harvey Birdman was the best thing you ever had). But they NEED to go back to cartoons. New cartoons. There's no shortage of cartoonists whio want to make shows for you. Heck, if you're going to be cheap and show foreign cartoons that are already completely produced, give us the unaired in America seasons (because they came out almost 10 years after Fox Kids stopped airing) of Space Goofs and Oggy... air Nelvana's brilliantly wicked Spliced. Johnny Test sucked, Skunk Fu really sucked.

Well, to keep this thread going..

Super Why-Now, I could go on and on about the Dora mode of educational television...the whole talks loudly and slowly because kids are all morons... but I won't. I could go into the obscene amount of toning down beloved stories like Hansel and Gretel (Hansel and Gretel's Healthy adventure... really... really...) so they're more educational and don't frighten paranoid little kids (even Rugrats' Chuckie likes more danger). Not even the fact that their designs are ugly butt knockoffs of Little Einsteins. Not even going into how the songs seem like they've been written in 3 minutes while the guy was on the can (He's Super Why! He's the Guy! My oh My! We're gonna fly!... don't look now... we have an award winning veteran lyricist on our hands).
It is the worst thing to happen to superheroes EVER. Worse than Superman's ugly 1990's costume with the sparks hanging out of his eyes...worse than Wolverine's movie... even worse than the time that Marvel Comics had that horrible typo that SHOULD have read "The Killer known as Sabertooth" (I'm sure we remember that). I object to Super Heroes having to go out and save kitty cats from trees in little kids shows (even Sesame Street), and even then, that's a "Fist of the North Star" level of masculine adrenaline compared to what they do. Go into overly watered down fairy tales to solve easy to solve problems to teach common sense morals along with really bad literacy techniques.

Really... YUCK!

I have noticed in a lot of little kids shows these days like The Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, Go Diego Go! Jungle Junction, and Secret Agent Oso, they have the characters constantly interrupting the story asking the kids at home for help.
