Does nyone know for sure that Roosevelt Franklin is included in this disc set? - I miss that lil' guy
So far there has not been any confirmation as to whether he will or won't be on the set. I have a feeling that he will. It's too bad that he isn't on the cover. Some of his sketches were shown on Noggin, and this set is being targeted towards nostalgic adults, so I don't see why not (unless there is some sort of legal problems).

I wonder who has a better chance of being included on the set: Roosevelt Franklin or Kermit the Frog?

One thing that I really hope, and I'm sure that I'll get my wish on this, is that for the bonus skits, Sesame Workshop does not pick skits that are already included in the episodes that are included. That would be a bit of a waste. I won't mind if the set has multiple episodes with the same skit, and I would much rather have all of the bonus skits be skits that have already been released on other DVDs then for bonus skits to be included in the actual episodes. I also won't mind if the original pilot includes some segments that were included in any of the episodes included, as that's a full production and not just some random skits chosen as bonuses.

I have been thinking about this a lot lately as well. I've been looking at the pages for the season premiers at Muppet Wiki. Of course, Noggin did edit a few minutes from each episode. The contributors only know of what was edited from the first episode, and I think a contributor knew what was edited from one other of the first five season premiers, so those characters you listed as not being in the season premiers might have still been in them.

And you are wrong about some of them. The following did appear in season premier episodes:

Farley (season 2 premier)
Prairie Dawn (season 4 premier)
Roosevelt Franklin (season 4 premier, and I think he's also in another of the first five premiers, though not seasons 1 or 2)

Also, Placedo Flamingo and Forgetful Jones were not around during the first five seasons. I am not sure when the Tweedlebugs made their first appearance. And don't forget about Sam the Robot, who was introduced in the fourth season premier. And I guess you can add Roosevelt Franklin's Mother, Little Jerry and the Monotones, and Chris and the Alphabeats to the list of characters from the first five seasons who were not in the season premiers (unless Noggin edited their material from those episodes).

Add Granny Fanny Nesslerode to the list of characters who were in the season premiers. She was in the fourth season premier.

Wouldn't it be cool if this set came with a bonus CD, either a reissue of the first SS album or a CD of songs from the first five years?

The tracks could be like this:
1. Sesame Street Theme
2. Everybody Wash
3. The Ballad of Casey McPhee
4. Mad
5. I Love Trash
6. The Alligator King
7. Rubber Duckie
8. Over, Under, Around, and Through
9. Nearly Missed
10. Everyone Likes Ice Cream
11. Everybody Eats
12. I Whistle a Happy Tune

I wonder what the disc art will be like. It would be cool for the disc art to have Big Bird on disc one, Ernie and Bert on disc two, and Grover on disc three.

Guys, I've said this before and I'll say it again...

DO NOT expect to see anything that has Kermit in it on this (Or any future releases, for that matter). The rights for a DVD release are different from those of a broadcast, which means SW would have to pay Disney if they wanted to use anything that had Kermit in it. They probably wouldn't be able to afford it and even if they could, Disney would be unlikely to grant them permission. Case in point, when JHC wanted to release a new edition of Emmet Otter's Jugband Christmas -- which has two scenes with Kermit -- Disney refused to allow them to use him for any amount of money, so they had to release it with Kermit's scenes cut out. That's Disney for you. :grouchy:

On a more positive note, like the rest of you I'm really looking forward to this too. October 24th can't get here fast enough.
