Part II
The diamond was in the form of a peculiar skull lying peacefully in leisure on top of a modest brown table in the heart of the cozy room. The space would have been a little more inviting if she wasn’t staring into her foe’s beady black eyes. Nora was just a tiny girl, with a little frame. The two, bulky and flat-squared in figure, could effortlessly mutilate her carcass into fine particles.
Dread tackled her common sense steadily. Nora realized that this was the opportunity to rethink her actions. A radiant mind, however, still a child in more ways than one, felt the superfluous need to take off. She was not to be blamed, as her dear friend had gone astray, and she was staring at two silver spears that’d soon run her through.
A feeling of resentment began to form for the devious feline.
Suddenly Nora felt the cold embrace of terror surround her as she found herself on the ground. Spears of gray plunged into the dirt violently, missing her by a single hair. Pieces of filth landed on her cheek.
Of course, she thought staring into it.
From behind the two did a broad grin appear; amused eyes became visible to her, much to her comfort.
She dug a slender hand into the earth, grabbing a handful of dirt, blinding their sight with just a little toss. Nora seized her blade and dug it straight into its abdomen, making the card cry out in pain.
The other card fell victim to a graceful pounce from the Cheshire cat. Once landed, he took on his muppety form and buried his nails into his face. “I’d tell you to look away, Nora…but I think this is something you’re going to have to get used to.” He whispered, materializing himself right next to her.
She nodded. “For a moment there, I thought you had abandoned me for sure.” Her words were a little stiff as she spoke.
He nodded. “I wish.” He joked.
They approached the oak stairs cautiously. The little room which held the diamond captive welcomed them. The shimmering skull smiled somewhat pleasantly as if giving itself to her.
Nora took it into her little hands carefully. “Can you tell me how to get to The Fortress of Doors?” She asked.
The diamond formed into a key.
“I think this is it.”
“Great. Let’s go see the elder.”
