homerthegreat, please do not take this in a negative manner, but if you could please get off your high horse. Immediately judging Bear, his ideas and intentions, and putting them down do not help anyone, especially Bear. He has an idea, and I think it's only fair that he attempts to run with it. Anyone is allowed to try, and they have to start somewhere.
Freewebs is just fine for a small site. First off it's free, you can upload html pages, use ssi, has a good amount of space, etc. It has everything that Bear needs as a beginner with website building, html, etc. and it is just fine for him. I doubt he plans to buy any webspace or a domain name anytime soon, as it's going to be a personal site for him. So, using something like freewebs should suit him just fine. And also, yeah some people may judge and say, "Wow, you have a freewebs site, what's wrong with you, can't you build anything decently?" But those people should get off of their high horses too. Everyone has to start somewhere, and there is absolutely nothing wrong with starting where he is, since he is a BEGINNER. You said using freewebs will make him seem like an amateur. Well, he IS. Noone will be looking at his site professionally, and judging it, so I don't believe that you should judge it either before it even exists.
That being said, I'm sure he appreciates that you are trying to help, but I don't think that's the kind of help he needs. He first needs to be able to learn about html and website building, and the only real way he can do that, is just that - to actually do it.
