New Sesame Street movie in development with Warner Bros.

So the only news about this project that we've had in the past two years is this update via Muppet wiki

"Levy, still attached as a producer, offered an update on the project in August 2021 while promoting the Ryan Reynolds-starring film Free Guy, noting that changes to the industry from Covid had prompted discussions about the project moving from WB as a theatrical release to HBO Max as a streaming exclusive.[17]"


I guess a streaming exclusive would be better than it not coming out at all but still wish it could have been a big theatrical release.

So I usually browse the Disney Wiki's listing page for Upcoming Movies as well as the similar page for List of Upcoming Disney Movies 2020-2029, as well as the online page for List of Upcoming Warner Brothers Movies 2020-2029. And what should I find in the updates posted at the WB list today? Sesame Street as a movie for a potential unspecified 2025 release! This might get pushed back as there was no information on its current production development status, nor did I get any actual film info when clicking on the link for the title, but hey, it's an actual Mupdate so take it for what it's worth.

And now two weeks later, WB shows their true colors regarding their Sesame Street loyalty by removing the proposed upcoming third film from their Upcoming Films slate website.

On the one hand this is yet another reason why I'm completely boycotting/not subscribing to Max anytime soon.
But on the other hand, I could either wait it out to see if a third film does get released or go after the Sesame New Year's special for my own personal DVD album.

Yeeeeeeeahhhh I kind of just expected this to happen honestly.

Far as I’m concerned I’m just not counting on this movie anymore.

The Sesame Street movie has been in development for a long long time. Last I heard, Chance the Rapper joined the cast, but that was about 5 years ago at this point and right before COVID hit. The most recent news we got was in 2023 when Anne Hathaway said "It hasn't happened yet, but I hope it does", which isn't exactly promising for something that has been in the works since 2012.

At this point, it would be a genuine miracle if it came out in any shape or form.
