I actually kind of like the Aladdin idea. At least the casting. Although I would also prefer to see an original story for the next Muppet movie.

I really think the Muppets have to stop doing these adaptations and start doing original productions. Isn't there even one person on their staff who can come up with an original idea and put it to paper? To me the Muppets have always worked best when they were just being themselves, or at least more or less themselves, as they were in the first few movies and TMS. Since then all we've seen is them playing other characters, and to me it just hasn't worked.

Maybe perhaps someone could make a fanfic movie outline of Muppet Aladdin, no?
The :sing: means that there would be a song.

Well... A fanfic script would probably be a good idea... Though maybe research into the story of Aladdin from 1001 Arabian Nights would be in order... And maybe that way you could expand on the story, making it kind of an all-out expansion of the Marty Feldman TMS episode.

Maybe. You would have to be careful though in today's polictically correct age with Arabic characters and settings. If they do indeed try one of these adaptaions in conjunction with Disney, they'll probably end up settling for a story that would have a less controversial background in today's age; perhaps a Muppets Bambi would be decent enough (just imagine, Kermit running around with false antlers for half the story and saying through the 4th wall just how absurd it all is).

You know I would like it better as well if the next movie was a totally origainal.

I have to say, Gozo shouldn't be Jafer, they should make a new Muppet for the villian of Jafer. I think rather, than Abu like character, Gonzo should be Kermit's (as Aladdin) best friend. Also it would be cool to see the Muppet Treasure Island pirate Muppets as the Jafer's goons.

However I have to say, not trying to sound rude, I don't really like the idea anyway.

Either way, I agree that Gonzo is wrong to play Jafar. In fact, it would be wring to make any of them the villain because they are not villains, these characters are our friends and we are supposed to root for them. So in agreement with JJ, the villain should be a Muppet created specifically for the role or it should be played by a human. But I am not a fan of the idea either unless it was it's own version and not a copy of Disney's animated movie.
