Just curious, how many " long-time " Muppet Central umm... fans are there? I think I've been peeking in here since 1998. :smirk:

Not sure what the real question is, but I've been here as a member since July of 2002 and a mod/staff member since 2007. And as the frog said, I'm not going anywhere, I'm staying!

I have been browsing and lurking this forum on and off for several years, and was originally even a member here during 2012-2015. I did make my return here during this year, and I do continue to occasionally post on this forum.

Originally found this site in 2005 when looking up info regarding the “Mystery Guest” game show sketch, then came here again in the summer of 2006 when I discovered the classic clips on YouTube and sketches that scared you as a kid threads.

A couple months later I came here in February 2007 as a shy 14 year old pretending to be a different person, then abandoned my account a year later after I wasn’t happy with how I joined the site. Came back 9 years later as my real self (much older and wiser at that), was active for a few years, now I’m just casual with how much of a mess this site has become.

Myself, I discovered MC back in early 2000s, while looking for Muppet stuff, and have been coming here as an unregistered lurk on and off since, for fun and helpful info.

I still enjoy reading old threads from that period -- the grass was greener back then, jokes funnier, people were not canceling everything around for fun, and the original Muppet guys who made it all possible were treated with respect and affection they deserve.

Like they say--
"Hello, is this a nostalgia club?"
"Yes. But it's not the same as before."

My point is, fan communities are driven by hype. The numbers and activity on fan sites grow and wane as Mupper popularity goes thru the same cycles. These days are a lull period which Disney does not seem to be able to break, for a number of reasons. However, as for myself, i'd rather see around a bunch of good people and less activity than visit a frenzied fangroup with lots of flames raging on.

Found this website that was recommended by another member here since December 2016. Left around 2022 to focus on my life and came back sometime around this year to see what was happening here. Although I am on here rarely due to as the aforementioned member stated, "how much of a mess this site has become."

I do recall a few " flame wars ". It is better without that sort of thing.

Nice to hear from you again, Phraggle! 😊

For me: first found this website during 2005 while searching for Muppet news. I have grown up with the Muppets, though it was this fansite that made me realize how much impact Jim Henson's legacy really is. Often came by for the news and guides, didn't sign up for the forum until 2014 in light of Jerry Nelson's death. I was new to social networking of sorts then, made few regretful posts on here... :frown:

I still come by for several occasions, especially the MCRadio's Merrython for all the holiday Muppet music! 🎄 I also try to share stuff I've been doing as I believe these blogs may want to see them knowing who I am, better than scrolling through big-name socials to find me. I once read it's better to have a range of social apps: one international, one national/statewide, and one smaller, simpler blog for connecting to the immediate community IRL. Muppet Central seems to lean towards the latter two, but let me gives thanks to MC Forum for giving me a space to train on digital networking skills.

Thank you, Muppet Central Admin and Mods for still making space for Muppet fans, come storms or rainbows!
