Oh yeah I forgot about that, anyway it’s the segment where Telly is talking about eating fast and slow with cookies and Cookie Monster.

Something seems off about Telly’s performance

Both of Caroll's signature characters had a "best friend" who were both of Marty's signature characters . . . in these cases, Snuffy being Big Bird's best friend, and Telly considering he and Oscar best friends.

Of course, both characters originated from different performers, but it made me think today.

I've noticed that too...like how Jim and Frank's characters were often paired together: Ernie & Bert, Kermit & Fozzie, etc. Same for Jerry and Richard's characters: Biff & Sully, Floyd & Janice, the Two-Headed Monster, etc.

When I first saw that one, I thought he sounded a bit different. I wondered if that was Meehl’s Telly (back then my only source for hearing his voice was Don’t Eat the Pictures, where he sounded a lot different from there, not to mention I had access to some of Martin Robinson’s early Telly performances which imitated Meehl). Maybe Robinson only did the voice there and it’s a result of dubbing. Or maybe he just wasn’t able to get the voice right that day.

I always find it a pleasure when we see odd pairings like Jerry and Kevin or Frank and Richard, etc.

In the end, as long as they can play off each other well, that’s all that matters.

Or Richard and Jim...we got Statler and Waldorf (a legendary pairing), Scooter and Kermit (reliably funny), and even a one-shot deal with Placido Flamingo and Ernie (WTH was that all about).

I think I've talked about this in this thread already, but it seems like Frank and Richard never really had any duos on Sesame Street, and it was rare for their characters to have one-on-one pairings, though the opposite is the case with The Muppet Show.

And you could say that Jim and Kevin were kind of an honorary duo in the '80s, with Ernie and Hoots being teamed up a few times, Kermit and Elmo teamed up a little more, and Elmo also appearing at least once (under Jim's performances) with Ernie and Guy Smiley.

I wonder when the last time was when Sesame Street did a segment with Jim, Frank, Jerry, and Richard. Even with all four doing the Twiddlebugs, the last few with Jim had Mama Twiddlebug performed by David Rudman instead of Frank.
