While I wasn't going to elaborate on Drumph as this is not the right thread to do so, I find him an empty suit that just wants a Republican in charge so he can get a nice tax break when he licenses his name out for a casino. Basically, he doesn't even offer anything beyond the standard cheap far right talking points that have been there for years. I just find it shocking that anyone's noticing that stuff just now. It's like that Saturday night Live sketch said, they don't outright say they're racist, they just imply it with years of policy. It's not that Drumph (or Ronaldo Rump if you're a Biker Mice fan) routed out support by extremists that wasn't there to begin with. The Republican party had ample time and ability to change its image by marginalizing the more extreme and embarrassing views. But like I always say, the difference between conservatives and liberals is that conservatives will always vote Republican no matter what (especially since their views are more in tone to Libertarianism, rather than Neo-Conservatism), but liberals will always split, vote third party, and even stay at home during important off season elections, and whine the loudest when someone far right comes into power. So yeah, I kinda don't like them either.Yep. Like that nontroversy he started up around the holidays where he said it's supposed to be un-P.C. to say, "Happy Holidays," instead of "Merry Christmas," because as far as he's concerned, being an American citizen automatically means you're a Christian, and therefore automatically celebrate Christmas . . .
However, I do get a sick sense of pleasure from seeing right wing politicians that actually shared Drumph's beliefs and supported his birther nonsense somehow get shocked to see him becoming the nominee. I'd say it's the equivalent of one of those bad cover records they feature sometimes on Oddity Archive. The party's hearing their greatest hits get mangled by a tone deaf, talentless hack and they don't like the result.
