No, no... you do NOT understand... It's not a Southerner Stereotype I am going for... it's his attitude. I mean, he's giving Sadam 48 hrs to leave the country. It's like something from a Western movie. I mean, it's not so much we are going into war, but he's really being jerky to everyone...He's making Americans look Impaitient and angry.. more than usual.

But Still, it's not so much hippy peacenik why I'm against it.. no! I'm a disasterist! I know there will be DIRE results of this war. It isn't a movie you know. it won't be over with Saddam...

As I heard on some TV show (oddly enough) someone stated that once this villian from the show was defeated, a new, greater evil will take it's place.

I have a sneaky suspicion that a greater threat will attack us when we're not looking.

I feel okay about everything. I think this will save us from ultimate destruction later.

We DO need to be sure to keep eyes open on other countries who are in development of weapons and who could slam us at any time.

See? None of this would be happening if I ruled the world. But nobody will vote me in. :frown:

That's more of a valid point, but I don't see this as a movie or Bush as an impatient cowboy. The topic of war has been going on for many months. It's not like anybody's jumping the gun and Saddam has had over a decade to get rid of his weapons. The idea that this is all spur of the moment is ridiculous.

Is that the First Amendment I see flying out the window on the back of that pig?

While we're on the subjects of hypocrosy and stupidity, I'd like to say how stupid I think it is that this war has brought with it a "for US or against US" (capitals intended) attitude based just on the fact that some people don't support the war. Just because some of us don't like the fact that the US armed forces are bombing the you-know-what out of Iraq right now doesn't mean we hate the entire gol-darn country.

It's the same with France and the other countries who aren't supporting us in this war, and suddenly we're boycotting products manufactured by them. How elementary schoolish is that? I mean, it's like we're on a giant playground and the US has said "France and Germany aren't my friends anymore, because they won't play by my rules." Grow up, people. Leave the playground battles to the actual kids on the playground.

After all, you can not like the act but still like the person, right? Why can't the same be said for an entire country (or countries, as the case may be)?

Got a laugh out of that line, Drtooth. It's been pretty apparent. Everytime I've read a post from you, I thought, "Man, Drtooth seriously has to consider seeing a therapist."

Never fear, I don't believe the end of the world is near. If we can survive the stunts of :concern: we can survive anything.

I support your right to speak out against a war against Iraq and applaud many of the issues brought up because war is a serious decision that needs to be seriously debated. But comments such as "Bush is just dumb" by some are ridiculous. Whether you agree with his politics or not, the Office of the President should be respected!

As far as a boycott of France goes, it is not childish. It is a symolic gesture to show that there are consequences for decisions made, no different than attending a peace rally. In the grand scheme of things, attending a peace rally or performing acts of civil disobediance really have little bearing on the decisions made. But it is a way for those participating to let the politicians in power know that their decisions may also have consequences. By your same reasoning, I guess the Boston Tea Party was just childish nonsense. And President Bush has said that he still considers Germany and France as friends of the U.S.

I could absolutely not even try to agree anymore! That was putting it exactly what it is...

"Symbolic Gesture" my aunt Agnes.... the whole mentality here is, "Well, France and Germany don't wanna help us, screw them! Instead of deciding exactly how to fight the war and protect the people, let's rename everything..."

Break out the blankies and pacifires. If Humanity gets any stupider, we'll no doubt see Barney the Dinosaur elected as presdident of any country..

And compairing it with the Boston tea Party.. that's like compairing apples with toater ovens. They taxed tea, and Britain was oppressing the colonists. France and Germany said.. well, about this war.. I dunno.....

Thank you.

I'm surprised I haven't seen any headlines that say, "France and Germany are Poopy Heads" and "My Dad Can Beat Up France's Dad"...
