A special birthday experience
Well, yesterday, we did indeed go up to visit my cousin as I said we were going to. Before that though my mom had some erands to run, and I came along for the ride. One thing she did was go to our favorite small-town hair-cutting place to have her hair cut and dyed. I wasn't having anything done, (although in retrospect I wish I'd patronized the owner considering what she did for me), so I just sat and waited. It's a very warm and friendly atmosphere, and we always get this good and homey feeling just by being in there. A very good vibe.
Anyway, I happened to mention that it was my birthday. A few minutes later, the owner left the shop, and I could hear her talking with her youngest daughter outside. Now, just for some background, the woman has three daughters, but I only know two. One is an adult who works in the shop, and one is a young child. A minute later the little girl came in and handed me a rose with some baby's breath around it, with a card saying happy birthday. Then they left again, and came back with a large brownie with a birthday candle on it, and everyone in the shop sang to me! My mom and I were touched, and so was everyone we told the story to! Didn't I tell you it was a great place?
Well, we did go up to New Paltz, and even though the weather was nice, we decided to go to the Thai restaurant anyway. We both loved the restaurant. The food, not so much. Still, I'm not sorry I decided to go there. Then I got an Ipod, so my cousin taught me how to use it and we loaded it with the songs from my computer. Man, I thought I had a lot, but it's not even half of what that thing can hold!
We stayed there for a bit, then drove home. I thought I would be automatically connected to the internet when I got home, but I wasn't, and so I wasn't able to come here all last night. Still, despite that, it was a great day.
I know I'm just rambling on and this post is already very long, but I just want to thank everyone for their birthday wishes. Snowth, a baby face? How cherubic! Prawnie, I don't know if you remember this, but the last time you mentioned my name in connection with your stories, you said something along the lines of how even though I didn't read/review often, you still apreciated it. Now, you're saying I'm one of your most dedicated readers! I've risen in the ranks, yaaay! Ed, *sniff*, I miss Claudia...
Thanks everyone!
