but what to people even get out of doing things like that...

i mean...is it the sick joy in just knowing a kid could have gotten hurt? but either way that's why they say always check your candy.

my parents always examined every piece of candy that i got for signs of being tampered with, and wouldn't let me eat any lollipops or things with easily removable wrappers that could be put back on.

is it sad that we have to do that? yes. but like...

I dunno. i dont understand why people do it

Reasons why most kids don't trick-or-treat anymore:

1. Sex offenders
2. Dangerous items slipped into candy
3. Sex offenders
4. Churches holding Halloween parties
5. Sex offenders
6. Parents obsessing over the childhood obesity epidemic
7. Sex offenders
8. Possibility of drive-by shootings
9. Sex offenders
10. Possibility of getting shot
11. Sex offenders
12. Possibility of gun violence
13. Sex offenders
14. Pedophiles
15. Guns
16. Sex offenders

Yeah. Halloween's been ruined.

The world is not less safe than it was, we just have more knowledge of dangerous events than we once did. As long as you are aware of your surroundings and teach your kids common sense nothing bad is likely to happen when trick or treating.

Kids are much more likely to get hit by cars during Halloween than get affected by all those dangers D'Snowth just listed. It's parents who whip up all those fears and inflate them to ridiculous proportions.

And why would people lace candy with expensive drugs and give them to random kids anyway?

What's the point of trick or treating anyways? If you want candy go to a store, not knock on random people's doors.
