Awg Lisa... How do you manage to win me over like that? No, don't answer.

Oy, the chapter divided into three parts of enjoyment for me.

First part: Rowlf and Kermit meeting up at the restaurant.
All the conversational effort of the frog to tell the dog about the pig.
And then letting the piano-player in on the journey to Hollywood.

How to sum up my feelings over that part... One word: Irresistiblish.

Second part: The hotel conversation.
Hope Fozzie washed his hands after using the bathroom like his Ma taught him.
The trust shown here between the three guys... Reminds me of when Fozzie showed himself to be Kermit's best friend, consoling and shaking him up to do what needed be done in A Pig Out Of Water.
And to know that Fozzie and Robin are part of the priviliged few who know about Melinda and Ray...

Again, you cut me to the quick in a good way.

Third part: Going to sleep.
This was such a good part to include. Just to have a sort of Muppetish and quiet/normal conversation about those little things that aren't rully uber-important...
Rully nice to see/read that type of thing again.
Even Gonzo got in on the act, unknowingly, up on the hotel's roof with Camilla nuzzled close to him.

You do it each and every time... Nail us where it hurts in a sort of Gonzonian manner that makes us weep with pain and joy mixed into one.
Loved this chapter, now please keep posting as soon as you get it done... Awaiting the eventual confrontation in the deserted ghost town.

Who knows, maybe you'll finally explain to us about that mysterious migrating log.

Oh I like! I like the Goodnight Moon and I LOVED the stuff with Rowlf. Rowlf and Fozzie becoming friends, nice. Gonzo reading to Camilla, very nice. Kermit, oh Kermit....two steps forward, one step back. I feel for him, I really do. I'm looking forward to more!

I'm here! I'm here! Time to post a detailed review!

Liiiiiiisa! said:
Kermit’s head was spinning.
That must be rough on the Muppeteer's hand...

Toga!! said:
Miss Piggy had been so quick to defend him, and so vicious in her defense.
You expected less?

And he had almost kissed her. The scent of her skin still lingered with him. It was unlike anything he had ever smelled before, and he wanted to smell it again. There was something about it that he loved.
Now this paragraph I loved. The frog's finally falling for the porcine pink...er...Pig...:stick_out_tongue:

The Goddess of Fan-ficyness said:
There was a rush of silk as she hurried back to the table. Words flew out of her mouth as she scooped up her handbag. “Kermie-I’m-sorry-but-Marty-got-a-commercial-for-moi-and-I-have-to-go-now-so-“ She kissed his cheek. “Good bye!” she called cheerfully, and she was gone.
Ooh, she came back in this one! Much different than the movie! Love it!! (And her agent's name is Marty, not Bernie, hmmm)

La la la la la said:
He stared after her, and his head was spinning once more.
See, I was going to make another comment on the Muppeteer's hand, but then you'd think I was an un-true Muppet fan, caring more about the hand than Kermit's love situation...GO HANDS!!

Rowlf's roomie(it shows) said:
“That didn’t exactly go the way you planned, did it?” a voice behind him asked.

Kermit turned around. “Rowlf?” he said, standing up. “What in the world are you doing here?”
Hey hey! Ol' Brown Ears is back! I was wondering how you'd handle this. And of course, being you, you handled it marvelously.

Mrs. Whitmire said:
“Time to play the music.”
I spy with my little eye, one reference to TMS...

Finger Wrapper said:
Kermit sighed. He didn’t like being wrapped around fingers.
At the risk of sounding repetetive: Haha! Love it!

In touch with her Inner Kerm said:
Kermit looked at his flippers and squirmed. “I- I’m kind of kicking myself over it,” he said.
Poor frog...That has to hurt...Kicking yourself and all...

The Queen said:
Rowlf would have to be cautious about this. He carefully considered his words. “You were starting to fall in love with her,” he said quietly.
*gasp* Ya think?

“Who’s Melinda?”

Ooh said:
Rowlf looked up, alarmed. Fozzie had emerged from the bathroom.
Uh-oh, Foz found out...

TEAR JERKER!! said:
Kermit took a deep breath. “Melinda…” A tear threatened to escape his eye. He took another deep breath. “Melinda… was my wife,” he said quietly. “And we had a son, named Ray, but…” He swallowed, and the first tear rolled down his cheek. “Well, see… a few years ago, we… Well… There was a car accident, see, and…” Kermit fell silent.
Oh...Oh Kermit...Oh...*hugs blue teddy*

Oh like wow...(Yes I'm out of names) said:
Fozzie frowned with confusion and turned to Rowlf for help.

“Melinda and Ray both died in the accident,” the dog gently explained.

“Oh!” Fozzie looked at Kermit, horrified and sympathetic. “That’s terrible! Kermit, I’m so sorry…”
Wow...Wow, wow, wow...Kermit...Fozzie...Rowlf...(Good thing Gonzo doesn't know yet...I'd have to give out more sympathy...)

So said:
“You must’ve gotten really close in three days,” Rowlf said. “There’s people he’s known for years who don’t know about Melinda and Ray. In fact… Anyone who didn’t know when it happened, doesn’t know. Except for his little nephew Robin, and now you.”
Oh Rowlf...Oh Fozzie...Wow...This is just...Wow...Fozzie and Kermit...Relationship defining man...

Oh have you met Lydia...? said:
“Well,” Rowlf said, stepping forward, “Anyone who can earn that much of Kermit’s trust that quickly, is a good friend of mine, too.” He held his paw out for shaking.

Fozzie took it. “Really?” he said excitedly. “You mean it?”

“Absolutely,” Rowlf said.

They shook hands. Or perhaps they shook paws.

“Great!” Fozzie pulled him into a backslapping bear hug. “We’ll be friends forever!”

Rowlf did a double take, and then returned his new friend’s hug. “Right,” he said. “Friends forever.”
AWWWW!!! That's so awesome!! I hug it!!

Lydia the Tattooed Lady... said:
THE BED SCENE!!
So instead of copying the whole thing...LISA THE GOODNIGHTS!! LOVE IT!!

Ok said:
On the roof of the hotel, Gonzo sat with Camilla by his side, and quietly finished reciting a book. “Goodnight stars. Goodnight air. Goodnight noises everywhere.” He sighed. “Boy, I tell ya, Camilla. Sometimes, I just can’t fall asleep without it. I like the end. Something about saying good night to the stars…”

Camilla nuzzled closer to him and set her head on his chest.

“I wonder where that pig went that walked out on Kermit. That wasn’t very nice of her, was it?”

“Bur, buck bu-gaw buck,” she clucked.

“Yeah, he is nice,” Gonzo agreed. “I’m glad we ran into him again.”
Now that...That made my day. Thank you Lisa. ((((((((((((((((((HUGS))))))))))))))))))

Hey! That "Mrs. Whitmire" crack better to one of her fictional characters, what's her name from Destination: Home!
Cause you know that title belongs to my online Sis.

And if she catches you, well, I don't think Jack Bandit will be able to leave the house for a while.
Just defending my Sis is all.

But forgive the muffining. Lisa! Get back here and post more! Please???

Slicha? ...Oh, oops, my manners are still in Israel. What I meant was, Excuse me? I've been Mrs. Whitmire ever since Prawnie became Mr. Goelz, which was way back in... um... Whenever it was that we were both online simultaneously often enough to be working on TTTMBT... Has something to do with Prawnie usually writing the dialogue for Dave's characters... So really, if Christy punishes Jack Bandit, she may as well punish the kittens too... Which wouldn't be very effective, as they're yet to speak again... Which I apologize most sincerely for, but I'm trying to catch up in the thread and I think I'm still on page 31... But it's on my to-do-list... Kind of like posting in dorms is on my to-do-list...

...Which one of us was muffining this? I forget...

By the way, since I feel like mentioning it, Goodnight Moon was written by Margaret Wise Brown, pictures by Clement Hurd, copyright 1947, and apparently the copy my family owns was $3.95 and the only reason I know this is because I ran downstairs to grab it this morning to check the copyright date and make sure it was possible for Rowlf, Kermit, and Fozzie to talk about it in 1975 because well, they had full control of the chapter by then and they were definitely talking about it... And the first part of Gonzo's dialogue is definitely the last three sentences of the book. So! Just thought I'd share.

Oh come on Lisa... How can I stay mad at you... You can be Mrs. Whitmire, it's of no matter to me... Just be careful using that around Christy.
Oh, the kittens have been ungrounded, though they and the twins will hopefully be starting school together as soon as you get in and start posting.

And I expect another chapter tut suite, or as soon as you can post something as wonderful as that last one up there above.

Oh, everyone's already covered what I'm going to say. So I second, no third, no... Oh, it is no use, however many times all of the above has been said, I completly agree!

Oh, and more please!

Edited to add: Thanks for answering my other question. Just wanted to double check.

Sigh... it didn't take me that long to eat... I just lost her review... <hangs head in shame.>

Now what did I say about this... there was alot of squealing and melting as I recall... like pigs carving ice sculptures in July.

I knew this would be good, but it still surprised me in its wonderfulness.

Kermit’s head was spinning.
Oh, Kermit was the spinning one... I thought it would be Rowlf, though I no longer remember why. My point is: yay!

Miss Piggy had been so quick to defend him, and so vicious in her defense. And yet, he wondered if she knew…
Oh yeah... this was so great! Kermit is gonna have plenty of time to get used to her protectiveness. Piggy would make an excellent bodyguard, as long as you are quick to duck.

He reached behind him and touched the spot on his back where he had felt the cold, hard metal. He didn’t want to think that it had been a gun, but… He didn’t know what else to think it had been.
<gasp> Oh! What a great reveal... a whole chapter later before we find out there was a gun involved! Oh, Lisa you're brilliant!

He wondered if she knew that she had saved his life.
<dances> Ooh, this is so great and wonderful and lovely! <regains cynicism> Methinks the frog is lucky she doesn't. Oh, but he knows it! <swoons>

And he had almost kissed her. The scent of her skin still lingered with him. It was unlike anything he had ever smelled before, and he wanted to smell it again. There was something about it that he loved.
You said, you said and it is! It came back! Wheeeeeee!!! And loved! LOVED!
That's what I said!!! Whoo!

He frowned.
Oh, Kermit... poor dear.

Oh, Piggy. I like that she apologized at least... and she does have to go...<shifty eyes>

“That didn’t exactly go the way you planned, did it?” a voice behind him asked.
Loved the way you brought Rowlf in... Kermit *needs* someone to commiserate with right now.

“Who’s we?”

“Oh!” Kermit brightened. “Well, me, and Fozzie, and Gonzo, and…”

Rowlf stared at him.

“Maybe I should start from the beginning, huh?” Kermit said.
Oh, I love how it's already "we". Kermit isn't alone. <feels glee>

Rowlf nodded. “About time,” he said.

“Time for what?”

“Time to play the music.”

Kermit gestured to the piano. “You’re already playing it.”
You make it look so effortless, Lisa. <Is happy Rowlf finally signs up>

Kermit gulped, looked down, and squirmed.

“Uh oh,” Rowlf said.

“No- it’s just- I…” Kermit squirmed.
Loves squirming Kermit.

Rowlf’s song came to an end, and he took the opportunity to stop playing, lean over, and examine Kermit from his eyes to his flippers and back. He sniffed. “I smell fresh wounds,” he said. He straightened up and started another song. “What did she do to you?”
Ahh! I love this... It's so perfect! I love Rowlf being all dog-like... and what did Piggy do! Yay! (What she always does, blasts full force right through his defenses. He learns a lot of strength from her... and from Fozzie and Gonzo, and Rowlf...)

Kermit sighed and sulked. “Good question,” he said. After a moment, he lifted his head, with a hint of an embarrassed smile tugging at the corners of his mouth. “Rowlf… did you see her?”
<Swoons> Love the embarassed smile, soo much!

Rowlf nodded and looked at his friend. “Kermit,” he said, “You’re wrapped around her finger.”
Piggy is an expert at wrapping people around her finger. Though Kermit didn't put up much of a fight.

Kermit sighed. He didn’t like being wrapped around fingers.
Oh! I know we've already chatted about this line, Lisa, but I get so much out of it with rereading. There's a lot in those nine words. <thinks about Kermit and Piggy through the years>
Then Rowlf turned to Kermit. “Now,” he said, “About this lady pig.”
I like how Rowlf didn't forget, and asked Kermit about it the first chance he got.

Kermit frowned. “I only meant to flirt with her,” he said.
Sigh... a little harmless flirting...

“Well…” Kermit sat down on the bed. He looked at his flippers for a long time. “It- it wasn’t really… just flirting. But… I can’t quite put my finger on what it was. And I’m not sure I want to.”
Well, that's Kermit's perspective on their whole relationship right there in a nutshell, isn't it.

Rowlf gave his friend a good hard look and immediately knew the problem. Kermit wouldn’t want to look it straight in the face- he probably wouldn’t even be honest with himself about it. Rowlf would have to be cautious about this. He carefully considered his words. “You were starting to fall in love with her,” he said quietly.
<stomach drops into feet> Boy, does that line smack me... I like how Rowlf is careful about this... he's such a good, sensible dog. I'm glad Kermit has him for a friend.

Kermit silently stared at his flippers for what seemed like a very long time. When he lifted his head, he was on the brink of tears. “I can’t do that to Melinda,” he said.
<Tears up... again!> Oh, Kermit... This really really gets to me... because it did mean something to Kermit... he wouldn't be suffering like this if it didn't. I think... I think it's a good thing that Piggy walked away... I think it was good for both of them... though she didn't know it.

“Who’s Melinda?”
Fozzie walks in to an emotional moment... <smiles at Lisa>

The bear looked from Kermit to Rowlf and back. “Did I- should I leave?” He put his hands over his ears. “I didn’t hear anything,” and he turned to go.
Oh, this is such a sweet, Fozzie characterization reaction. And Kermit lets him stay, and tells him. Ohhhhh!

Kermit straightened up, his tears gone now. “Because I felt more for Miss Piggy than I should have,” he said. “And I love Melinda.” He stood up and started walking towards the bathroom. “Shouldn’t have even flirted,” he muttered to himself.
Oh! Oh! You got me right in the lung! And the heart, too! Whenever Kermit admits anything about his feelings for Piggy always hits me hard... and this... he loves Melinda... and then you went back to the flirting... <is wounded>

<Lets raging ushygushy girl out of her cage> It's okay Kermit... they won't mind... they want you to be happy! And ... that part of your life... it's over now, and nothing can change that. Go be happy with Piggy! <jams said girl back in the cage.>

“You must’ve gotten really close in three days,” Rowlf said. “There’s people he’s known for years who don’t know about Melinda and Ray. In fact… Anyone who didn’t know when it happened, doesn’t know. Except for his little nephew Robin, and now you.”

Fozzie slowly let this sink in. “Wow,” he said.
Yu said it Fozzie... adores that trust that sprung up completely... and who is more trustworthy than Fozzie bear... because you know... he trusts with everything he has first...

“Great!” Fozzie pulled him into a backslapping bear hug. “We’ll be friends forever!”

Rowlf did a double take, and then returned his new friend’s hug. “Right,” he said. “Friends forever.”
Told ya. I love these guys.

The bathroom door opened, and they broke their embrace to watch as Kermit sulked himself straight into bed.
And the frog sulks! Hah! That's so great!! And the way you used the word... <dances> I love him being all cranky! And you know what else I love? That when they finally remind him of Robin... he's less cranky.
<Loves goodnight moon!>

Oh! that's beautiful! And it leads so nicely into that star scene from TMM! Presuming they do get stuck in the desert...

“I wonder where that pig went that walked out on Kermit.
<starts>
So sneaky, Lisa!

Get back to work, you evil genius! <hugs the genius>

Missing you, dear--have been being "living in Las Vegas" for the past week and have not been good about posting to others.

Liked the way you describe their dinner. Kermit would like everyone to believe he's just an innocent victim of Miss Piggy's machinations--that's kind of his schtick--but the truth of the matter is that he's not a victim, he's a collaborator. Liked his "two-steps-forward-one-step-back" feelings about being involved with her because they tie in very well with how complicated love can be when you have already loved and lost.

Also like the way you portray cranky Kermit. I like cranky Kermit, too, and you'll notice that no one who is close to him takes his cranking seriously at all, except maybe Fozzie. Also liked the way Fozzie is drawn here. Fozzie is an innocent, but he is an adult, capable of the same adult emotions and affections that any mature person has. It makes me glad knowing that, now that he's left the swamp, Kermit knows someone who's got his back. With Fozzie, there are no complicated emotions, no worrying about betraying someone else if their friends--I like to see this bulwark in Kermit's emotional arsenal. (Yea Fozzie!)
Stocking up on stale muffins, um, I mean, waiting patiently for more story.
