Well my user name is melissa@muppet and my name is melissa, i have no problems with anyone on muppet central knowing my first name. There are heaps of melissa's in australia. I think it is nice if you meet new people that they know you're first name.
Thanks for dropping the annoying typing in all caps, now if we could only get Super Muppet to stop it!

My username is easier to remember then my real name. (Marianne. I mean, no one would remember the spelling.) So I use that.
That's a really pretty name.

I also think my username is just easier for me and for others.

YAY! I can stop calling you MeepBorkMeep to my parents...I can't say it easily....

I just was talking to my parents (Brenda and James) about Jim's funeral and stuff, and I keep saying "MeepBorkMeep" and I kept bungling it up, so I started to say MBM, and Dad thought I said MGM...and it was all confungled up.

So at least now I can say "Marianne". It's a very beautiful name!

Oh! A little information about myself and my real name!

Real Name: Sara Vines (I am worthless, monetary-wise, so I am not afraid to use my last name!)

Username: ReneeLouvier - I was adopted when I was a baby, this was [supposedly] my real name. One day, three years ago, I got sick of all the letters, and different usernames and all that junk. So I picked this for my user name, and now you can pretty much just do a search for "ReneeLouvier" and you'll find me!

Background: I'm 19 years old, I have ADHD, and Bi-Polar Disorder. I am an obsessive fan of Richard Hunt, Scooter, and pretty much anything that Jim Henson's vision has graced. I am over-weight, and I currently hold the title of "Princess of Fan-Fiction" but it's a loose title, and...I honestly don't care if anyone else wants to have it from me.

If ya'll believe I've revealed too much...the only thing I've not given out is my phone number. Or cell phone number. Because frankly....I'm in debt up to my eyeballs, I don't have a job, I don't even have a car or bank account.

So unless you want to pay off my two credit cards, and my soaring medical bills....you've got nothing to take from me.

It is if you have over-bearing parents who don't want you to give out any form of your name, not even initials or nicknames.

Sorry, I just got back to this thread. Thank you to all the people who said my name was beautiful! ^-^

I can relate to ya there, D'Snowth, if you're talking about yourself. My parents freak out about names on the internet. Just not this site, hence the openess about my first name earlier.

I also have an easy time giving out my first name. Maybe it's because of the lack of paranoia I have towards the issue, or maybe because i dont have fear of someone coming after me. If you wanna find me, come after me.. but you will also see the "buisness side of my butcher knife".

I do understand if you have "over-bearing" parents however. You do it, your parents find out.. and "poof" the internet and privacy as you know it.. are handed over to your parents.

Either side of the argument, I can understand.

but in the end, I think the choice is just personal preference.
