Ugh. I can't stand Carson Daly.

I'd be all for it if Michael Ian Black replaced him. It just feels right to me that Richter replace Conan.

Yeah, because the other 2 or 3 shows that he did after he was on Conan did REALLY well

I've always been a fan of the NBC late-night line up with Leno and Conan. Carson Daly I care little for, but sometimes I watch him if I'm still up and watch how totally lame he really is. But Leno and Conan are who I usually watch, but it also depends on the guests. If there are better guests on Letterman, then I'll just watch the beginning half of Leno and then switch channels.

I used to couldn't stand Carson Daily because he felt like a personalityless industry tool who though every band and artist music was great no matter what. But sense he seems to be more alive now, I like home a little better then I used to.

C'mon now, have a little faith. Just because Richter hasn't found nearly as much success as he deserves doesn't mean that he doesn't have what it takes to carry a show on his own. Have you seen any of his shows that were canceled? Or at least Andy Richter Controls the Universe and/or Andy Barker P.I. Quintuplets ain't a good example, even though Richter himself was great in it.

Also, it's not like Michael Ian Black is a household name. Yeah, he's great, but he's definitely found some failure, too, in the canceled Stella series, which was wonderful. I love Michael Ian Black, and have been a fan for a very long time, but there's still no doubt in my mind that Richter could also carry a talk show of his own. None at all.

I actually saw Andy Richter AND Andy Barker PI. Don't remember if I saw Quintuplets, but they sure got cancelled very quickly. I agree though, I was a big fan of Andy Barker, and to a lesser extent Andy Richter Controls the Universe. I thought Andy Barker was a good concept. It may have lasted one seasonful of stuff because there's only so much you can do with stuff like that, but still, it should have still been on. Michael Ian Black isn't a household name without failure, but at least he's been a part of something successful(the I Love The....series, Celebrity Poker Showdown) and he's proven that he could be a compitent talk show host(Was almost the Late Late Show host before they chose Craig Ferguson) As for Carson Daly, I didn't care for him at first, but I watched a couple minutes cause I'm too lazy at that time to turn off the TV, and one day, out of the clear blue, he turned funny. I don't know what happened, but his show all the sudden was really funny. I don't know if it was cause I was so tired or what, but it was just strange to me. I think that he has a year and a half to be molded into the next Conan, and be the next host of Late Night.

No one really knew who Conan was when he was chosen to take over Letterman's old time slot. He was a writer (and sometimes bit player) on SNL, and at the time he got his late-night gig, was writing for The Simpsons.

I think Michael Ian Black now is more visible and well-known than Conan was at the time he got Late Night. In fact, a lot of people in the industry were scratching their heads back in '93, wondering if this Conan fella could handle his own talk show. As Conan himself admitted, his early shows were weak, and he always had the spectre of being replaced hanging over him.

If I remember correctly, Dana Carvey was one of the contenders to replace Letterman before Conan.

I'm wondering if Andy Richter would want to go back to his old stomping grounds. He left Conan to pursue a TV/film career. And while his shows have been short-lived (I especially liked Controls the Universe), who knows if he wants to go back to the grind of late-night TV?

See, that's my only concern. I know Richter left to pursue his own career, so he may not want to come back to do Late Night. Being that Michael Ian Black auditioned for Craig Ferguson's old job, I don't think he'd have a problem with taking over for Conan when he leaves.

And I watched Carson Daly last night, and... wow, you were right, Teheman. He's definitely gotten... well, he seems like a real person now, anyway. And he has more charisma than he did the last time I watched him. I don't know if I want to see him take over for Conan, but, well, at least I don't hate him now.
