It's the newest one, dated May 23. The cover is the 50 top cult movies.

I'm sure this has been discussed here before, but is part of the Henson Co.'s problem less demand for puppetry now that CGI is so advanced? I'm thinking a character like Gollum from Lord of the Rings might have been a puppet in the past, but with the current state of movie effects, it's cheaper to make him inside a computer. Yoda too....maybe I'm off? I'm sure there are people in the forum who know more about these things than me, so I'm asking.

Oh, BTW, there was an article (I believe it was Forbes) that stated that recent plans for a Muppet television show have fallen through. I am wondering if they meant the old show that was supposed to be on years ago or the new Fox show.

Yeah it was in another thread. The term they use is 'fizzled out' i think. Very good sources said that the Fox show had been greenlighted for 13 eps around last January time but really not hearing the right kinda things we would be usually hearing at these times. Hope they were just referring to the old show but i also fear not !

Fox didn't list them in their fall line up or mid-season replacements.

They wouldn't be listing mid-season replacements yet, but I fear Luke could be right. I'm thinking positively though.

You know, I think the article would have specifically named Fox if it were the current deal. Maybe not. There could have been a conflict with the 2 TV movie deal with NBC. Maybe it was postponed. Who knows. The deal could have fizzeled after the EMTV sale. I just hope they get a show soon. I'm excited about the movies. :excited:

The last official thing we heard (mid-2002) on the Fox show was that Team Todd didn't have a final concept nor a target date yet, but we would most likely see it in 2003. (which is crap, they are obviously way behind schedule). It was also officially said that it was a weekly prime time variety series - although originally they said it wasn't to be a variety show and seem to have changed their mind. This has been the official line right upto the press releases from TDK about the 'On With The Show' video game but then they were strangely silent about hyping the Fox deal towards the end of the sale in all the articles and their own press releases.

Either it's all off, it was really delayed to the point of being put on a backburner till the sale ended, Team Todd still haven't been able to come up with the right concept, Henson are looking elsewhere now for the concept - or they've been working on it all along like eager little beavers and not telling anyone. There have been lots of little rumors along the way like how many episodes, and the setting for the show but they dried up at the beginning of the year - something seems wrong !

They might answer what color panties Mokey wore in the Fraggle Rock pilot but the only thing they'll give you on current strategy is the official line that they are currently exploring the possibility of new Muppet TV shows and will anounce things when they know more.

I'm thinking that the deal likely fell through then. I hope there's a new development. With the 2 TV movies being shot this year, when will there be time to tape 13 episodes? You know, if NBC got the show there is a place for it at 8pm Saturday nights. NBC has been showing reruns and garbage in that timeslot. It's not the best time or day, but a niche show like the Muppets could survive in a niche slot with the right PR. It has to be shown early enough for the young audience too.
