Who else thinks that the academy awards needs a new category?

Here are some categories I think they should have:

-Best Comedy
-Best Movie with a Gimmick
-Best Voice Actor (includes puppeteers as well)

In addition, I think that the category for Best Animated Picture should have six movies nominated, instead of just three, like every other category.

I also feel like there should be a rule stating that every feature lenght movie released in america during a certain year should get at least one nomination. With the main exceptions of the nominees for Best Animated Picture, most movies that get nominated for oscars are ones that I haven't seena nd don't really care about. It really hurt my feelings when Lord of the Rings 3 got nominated for and won all 13 nominations at the 2004 Oscars, while movies that I saw and care more about, like Bruce Almighty, Dickie Roberts, and Anger Management, didn't get diddly squat.

It's funny, because when I saw the title of this thread and after having sat through the mind numbing 3 hour obsequious rant where everyone in Hollywood thought they needed to butter themselves up even more, I thought; do we really need another category? (What the heck is a Live Action Short, and why have I never heard of any of those films!?)

HOWEVER; I am totally shocked there's no best comedy category. Hollywood obviously feels the need to pepper these events with comedians all throughout, why not honor them with their own category? Same with a horror picture. Those are the movies that Americans love to see. Can you name 3 or more of your friends who said to you: "Gawd, I just need to see a film documenting the life and times of Capote!"?

I Agree maybe a Best Voiceover ( Unisex) ( it could be cartton, film, or natterator)

If there was a Best Comedy category, then it could be nominated for best comedy. Otherwise, it could have had nominatiosn for best picture, Best Actor, Best Writer, Best Makeup, Best Director, and so on.

Back when The Empire Strikes Back was released, George Lucas wanted Frank Oz to be nominated for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Yoda, but the academy didn't consider puppeteering to be acting. If there was a Best Voiceover category, then he could have been nominated. I would have suggested a Best Puppeteer category, but I don't think it's common enough for there to be enough movies featuring puppetry every year to have this category, so Best Voiceover would be more suiting. If there was a Best Voiceover (or best Puppeteer), then the muppet movies could have had more nominations.
