Sorry to reply to my own comment. But with the honkers in Muppet family Christmas, I like to think that when the sesame Street characters were on sesame Street rehearsing, whoever was in charge told the honkers that their honks were too distracting, and just told them to mouth along to the words lol

It’s even funnier that the mouth movements on the puppets don’t even match with what they’re saying.

Granted, it’s probably an issue with the way the video was uploaded, but it’s still funny.

No, it’s definitely a pre-recorded track there. It wasn’t uncommon for some skits to be like that in the early days (a good example being both takes of the Doc Holiday old west skit having the same audio track).
