I think my jaw actually dropped when I started reading this thread, and here's why: when I was little, I LOVED this movie. I watched it all the time, and EVERY SINGLE TIME, I had to look for Ernie in the end scene. I actually made my mom pause the movie so I could find him. Sometimes, we'd even rewind a little and do it again. I think that was my favorite part of the movie, so it's a weird coincidence to discover this site and actually find "Ernie" here!

Welcome, FrogInTheGlen! What a wonderful and cute story! And coincidentally, you posted it on my birthday! How freaky is that?

Dude, I read the topic in one hour and it is amazing the stories you have to tell. You could write your own book about it. I also love that picture of the back view of the heads of the puppets where Bert and Ernie are the clearest puppets in the picture. It's so cool.

Hey everybody,

I don't know if you've seen this video on YouTube or not...

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lgs1gngsJkI

... but one of the on-set photos from the end shows a great shot of the scrim with the rainbow painted on it, which WasOnceErnie and others have mentioned.

I contacted Bruce, the guy who posted the video, via his website batcaveofoz.us, and he provided me a larger version of that picture and has kindly allowed me to post it here.

That thing must have been HUGE.

UPDATE:

Hey, I just noticed that Bruce has joined the forums here and started his own thread. Yay!

WOE, did you have a chance to get to see some minor characters up close? Like Baskerville? QUOTE] I have an on-set shot of Baskerville (can't to an attachment here for some reason). I also have the page from the ne wWalt Disney Imagineering book featuring the Muppet Mobile Lab with Bunsen & Beaker. Email or IM me with your email address if you would like to see them!

It is horrible to have to emerge from an extended period of lurking to post something like this, but it has just this afternoon been anounced that Earl Kress, known to this community as "Was Once Ernie", has passed away after a battle with cancer.

His friend Mark Evanier broke the news here.
