****! Yeah, but you said yourself that Clifford might be a tough sell. That just increases the units sold by a small fraction.

About the tapes - was it said that they would have cases? They probably should, but not all of them have to. And on broadcast standard 3/4 inch, Super VHS and Beta tapes, there's a pretty big room for a logo label. I just think it would be a fun idea. We know that Palisades has the authorization to use some photos. That would make it all the cooler!

Wow....for a figure that seemed to get little attention, what an interesting debate.

Ok, to settle some stuff.

And I'll ask here what I tried asking in another thread.... What would we think about having the "Leprechaun Brothers" (i.e. Beaker, Swedish Chef, and Animal) done as a collector's club / variant somewhere further down the line? Ken, would something like this be of interest?

My fear? That it might be too obscure, even for us. I love the idea...but would it sell to the casual consumer?

"This Clifford is in the vest and tie. His normal painted version will be the sort of tan/magenta outfit. But the repaint will be INSANE in all the patterns we will work onto him. This may be a case where the repaint becomes a real chase figure.
So, not a business suit, but maybe business casual?

It's just a hip outfit...dressy for a host but not a sportcoat..slacks...you'll have to see it. If I could remember I can post some pics of the puppet version we based it on on the PT board.

And his guitar. along with all the other great stuff mentioned!!

No on the guitar. I don't really feel like we are doing him as a musician here. He is the host of Muppets Tonight for this interpretation.

I like Jamie's idea of funny things being printed on the tape labels and covers

As do I...we already planned to do that and have the tapes be removable. It's a way to honor some skits without makin' figs.

Make a monitor, but have several different versions of it packed into each box. So, one monitor might have statler and Waldorf on screen, another could have Seymour and Pepe etc. It would increase the selling point of a Clifford figure.

And also quite possibly get me killed. NO THANK YOU!!!

I agree with Luke, I think that Clifford should come with a clapper board instead of video tapes.

AND THUS IT IS SO. Clapper in. Tapes stay too...Now, don't make me come up there...nothing else gets changed!

Nope it wasn't said what the tapes would be like, i know someone asked about a holder/tray or something though to keep them in. Not sure if they could print photos down that small but yeah should be room for a logo or title on a large Beta style tape or something. Hopefully TAMPO'd though and not stickers.

Edit :- Ken posted same time as me. Very happy to hear about Clapper and Tape Labels. This whole interaction has made me feel all warm and squishy about the figure !

Luke, I'm the one who asked about a sort of videotape holder/tray to keep the tapes nice and neat amongst our collections.
Chris, by my count we have...
Ah, how many wishes left?
Don't worry someone wished for limitless wishes a while back and Ken granted that insane request before looking at his contract's fine print, the same one that forbids him from ever bringing up the Muppet Babies in any version back fron the Muppet beyond.

OK, so the guitar's definitely out, too bad but as long as we have an answer on that front. Now that the figure will have a director's chair, clapper or clapboard, videotapes with removable image-labeled covers, and an old-style microphone I feel that the figure's essence as the MT host has been frightfully captured. Not only that, but now it feels like a complete figure and one I'll gladly add to my collection. Thanks Ken for coming through once again!

BOP playset is out, but will we get the figures of Fozzie and Link?

 :embarrassed:

Thanks for the clapper, Ken!! That and the director's chair can come into good use!

:sing: "Clap on *clap clap* clap off *clap clap* clap on, clap off, THE CLAPPER!" :sing:

BTW, I think that if it is a March release and people can GET the figures next to St. Patty's day, then the Leprechaun Brothers would work as figures...especially for folks who like their green beer on that day!

Heck, tank Nate up and he'll likely by 50 sets of 'em! LOL!!

(Then, there are Muppet geeks like me who go get them without being tanked up---amazing how some of us forego food for action figures. Hmm...but, it's worth it.)

Hey Big Kev, sorry I didn't get the chance to post your thoughts about Clifford's accessories over at the PT forum before Ken weighed in with his decision. The fact is that there's already a Patrol Bear Fozzie figure made and painted and loaded with policeman gear accessories. The photo's somewhere in Palisades' previous daily bits from probably the beginning of March 2003. The rumor is that he'll be offered as a retail exclusive alongside the release of S5 to probably the same new retailer who'll get Reporter Kermit to be sold alongside S4. Guess Ken & Co. made up their minds as to whether S5 or S7's fifth figure spot would be taken up by this massive patrol bear figure. Hope this helps.
