I hate reality television. Hate it with a passion. I watched the very first episode of the very first Survivor...never again. I watched the last few episodes of the first The Mole, because that actually was interesting. I watched the first episode of My Big Fat Obnoxious Fiancee...wish I hadn't. Watched the a few scattered episodes of My Big Fat Obnoxious Boss...kind of funny. Watched the the first and last two or three shows of Rebel Billionaire...somewhat interesting. I had never watched a moment of American Idol. I refused to give ratings to a show that featured a lot of attention hungry teeny-boppers looking for an easy way into showbiz. Last week, my wife was watching AI and I sat down with her. Surprisingly, I actually kind of liked it. We tuned in again last night. It's actually entertaining. I think I like the bad singers, especially the ones who don't know they're bad because their parents like their singing or whatever. Gene Simmons was a bit of a jerk, saying no to a few talented people. Randy and Paula really saved the day for a couple of people. Tonight's show with a lot of Vegas Elvis freaks should be fun.
I agree with AndyWan Kenobi about showing more good singers. I guess they want to focus on the really good and the really terrible in the beginning for the ratings, and then give viewers a chance to see everyone else once the craziness of auditions subsides.
