Well, the guy they highlighted in the paper yesterday didn't make it, but today I found out that there is at least one person from Erie (technically Millcreek, one of Erie's townships) going in front of the three judges. He's 28, so he was thrilled when he found out he could audition this year. What's more, I know who the guy is. I don't know him, but I know his sister. They have a big, really cool family, and they all went to the same high school I did. They're all such energetic, positive, spirit-filled people, and it would be awesome if he made it to Hollywood. Too bad we have to wait so long to find out...

Hey, very cool! Glad to hear some people actually did make it through.

Do any of you know what's up with "regional auditions" for American Idol? They are holding one at our local mall in a couple of weeks--it's not mentioned on the AI site, but it apparently is a part of the main competition. What's up with that?

I heard something about that last year. Clay tried out like that before he went to Atlanta, and they rejected him! I didn't hear anything about it here, but I guess in some places they do it. Maybe that serves as the first stage of the audition process, then they're sent somewhere else.

Yeah, it sounds weird, but if it gives me another shot I'm gonna try it again (and again and again!)

Hayes Moses made it!! :excited: :excited: He went in front of Simon, Randy and Paula (plus guest judge L. L. Cool J.) yesterday, singing a Ray Charles song and a Stevie Wonder song. Paula also asked him to sing a Luther Vandross song. It sounds like L. L. Cool J. and Randy really liked him a lot, Simon liked his voice but didn't think he stood out, and Paula liked him a lot once he sang the Vandross song. Hollywood auditions are in October. It would be so cool if someone from Erie was in the top 32! :excited:

So...

I just got back from the regional AI auditions at the mall. It was a promotion sponsored by our local fox station. They let 150 people sing (on a stage in front of people!), then took the top five (as determined by scores from a panel of judges), then determined the winner. The winner gets flown to the Vegas AI auditions to sing in front of the judges. I did not win, but I had a really fun time. I sang "Rubber Duckie," which went over pretty well. It's not everyday that you get to sing a song like that on a covered-up ice-skating rink in the mall in front of 200 people. Really fun experience.
