About a minute into "C Is For Cookie," a group of other monsters appear behind Cookie Monster to sing along. The one front and center looks a lot like Oscar The Grouch -- so is Oscar classified as a monster or simply a grouch?
Something I learned today! I knew/remembered as a kid that the Sesame Street intro footage (with the theme song) was shot on film from the beginning in 1969 and later switched to video (like the rest of the show). I thought the switch happened at the beginning of Season 4, but today I discovered...
Having been able to see a lot of vintage shows from "my era" (outside of the Unpaved shows) for the first time since they were originally on -- something that jumps out at me -- I know they reused a lot of segments for years -- but it's interesting, cool and a little bizarre for instance to see...
It appears we have the same situation now with Skip Hinnant of "The Electric Company." Wikipedia shows him as still alive, but there were a few social media posts (apparently from people who knew him) saying he died April 16, 2022.
I think it's evident that there's a lot of ad-libbing. Matt Robinson in particular is very deadpan but often hilarious. But yeah, like the show where they pretend to go for an imaginary car ride, stuff like that does tend to drag.
For me it goes in "cycles" when I want to revisit certain things I enjoyed when I was younger. I have gotten on another "kick" of revisiting the Sesame Street of my youth after several years of not watching any of it. I can tell you when I first got the Noggin channel in 2002 (when they were...
I maintain that I am happy to see any vintage shows that pop up, regardless of where they came from or how they were retrieved from the archives.
But reading this stuff again, I completely see your point about grabbing stuff and posting it on the internet. It's weird the way this stuff works...
I have wondered that myself. They technically are the first episodes of the series, as they did air (albeit only on a local station).
The first one and a segment from another are out there. They aren't part of the AAPB holdings, are they?
This is just speculation on my part -- but "if" those...
Regarding the early Sesame Street records -- my sister and I had the "Sesame Street Book And Record" from when it first came out and we loved it, going through several copies.
Obviously, the version of the theme song on the album is a completely different recording than the one used on the...
Thanks, I'll check it out. Someone in another thread here (the one about unearthing previously "lost" shows) inquired about it as well. Unfortunately, I don't know much else. A post not long before his death from a family member (IIRC) on his page made reference to his being ill and wishing him...
I'd looked him up too at various times. One night recently I did an image search for Sesame Street with various years looking for pictures. I found an interesting photo and clicked on it, and that's where it took me.
It just bewilders me that Hal Miller died and no one noticed. And I only stumbled on the info by accident. Was no one either on the show (or alumni) or in the fan community Facebook friends with him? It's kind of sad.
Roscoe Orman played him for decades and was very good, and just by virtue of the show going on as long as it did (and has), statistically he's "most people's Gordon."
But Matt Robinson was the Gordon I knew, and of course I'm biased for that reason, but to me he was the best and coolest Gordon...
