In case you haven't figured it out by now, I consider myself a crafty person. I knit, crochet, do basic sewing and am learning quilting. Anyhow, I stumbled across this site in a fit of inspiration. I decided that I was going to make a puppet.
Here's the product of my work: George the cat...
opaque silver or gray fabric
I'm don't know of any particular fabric that fits what you're looking for but I do have some ideas. Perhaps you could take Silver Lame' and put stabilizer on it to improve the opacity and strength. The only other idea I have would be to get a general purpose...
I was watching an episode of "Simply Quilts" the other day and it had a segment about The Muppet Workshop making friendship quilts for people (friends, former employees, etc.) I know that many fans who also quilt have tried to incorporate their favorite characters into the designs. Does anyone...
Antron alternatives
It depends on what kind of skin you want your puppet to have. You could paint the raw foam, use fur, or even felt. Each one gives a different feel and look to the character. However, you asked about fleece. From what I understand about it, Antron is no longer being...
deep purple fur
Yeah, I don't know of any that dark either. I've seen some generic monster muppets that use a blue fur like that, but I don't know the character names. Perhaps this would be a springboard for your own creation. Sorry I couldn't help more.

Dark purple fur
Depending on your definition of dark, perhaps your fabric is in the right color range to make Telly monster. Another idea would be to make an "anything" monster with it. I don't have exact patterns, but Telly has a similar construction to Cookie Monster, and the anything...
Martian Voices
I've been trying to figure out the puppeteer's voices on the yip yip martians. I think one of them is Fran Brill, but who's the other? I've heard his voice on other characters. I think he did Sam the sound man too.
Any help?
Nun Puppet

This puppet is made using the kind of cheekbones that you seem to be looking for. Hope this helps.

Well, I don't know if it's strictly Jim, but my favorit is from "The Muppet Movie:" Life is like a movie, write your own ending. I don't know if it fits, but I like it.
I was flipping around the channels the other day and I saw what looked like "Blue's Clues" using puppets of Blue and the other characters. I thought she was CGI. Anybody know what's going on?
Frogs and Pigs and Chickens... Oh, My!
From what I understand about the Henson workshop and control system, could they have puppeteered the 2 chickens on one side and then the 2 on the other side and "blended" the shot. Also They could have had the chickens on a control system that allowed one...
Am I getting my wires crossed, or was there a sketch where Kermit went to get a custom t-shirt with his name and they kept misspelling it. The misspellings went to other monster and anything muppets like "Kermit the FORG" and "Kermit the GORF." Finally the shop keeper figures it out and says...
Years ago (Mid-70's/early 80's) there were a series of Sesame Street books sold at the grocery store. You paid a certain amount for the first book and the holder and then each week you got the chance to buy 2 new books.
1) Does anyone remember these?
2) In one of these books, there was a...
Puppet Planet has a tutorial on making muppet style eyes. Perhaps you could combine that with the slanted spoon idea and cut a curl out of foam to be like the eyeliner at the corner of the eye, cleopatra style. I think that's what they did for Kiki from the Puzzle Place, who I think was...
Ok, I know Sesame Workshop got the restraining order, and really cracks down on this but does anyone know where I might find a copy of Ernest and Bertram? Just for my own personal use?
All right so I'll wait on that. Can anyone show me a template for a mouth plate for a dog or wolf-like character? I was thinking it would be a "tongue depressor" shape cut in 2 parts with the upper jaw longer than the lower.
Ok, now for the last question of my current batch. After...
Ok, this project is getting bigger as I work on it. I've got more questions that have probably been answered before, so please bear with me.
I'm attempting to make a bichon frise puppet. I've got some ideas about shaping the head, but I could use some advice. When I use the "basketball" or...
