MPG sounds fine. I was just worried about space requirements on whatever server we use.

Video Guidelines What kind of guidelines should we have for these videos? This is what I was thinking: 3-5 mins in length filename with OMG (for general consumption) or OMFG (for racier content) a common file format--WMV, Quicktime? Have Fun I realize that not everyone has broadband...

By the way . . . For anyone looking for a good "head" pattern, Mike the Propologist has posted a pattern over in the "Merry X-mas" thread.

    Open Source Puppetry Project

The way I understand it is that what is meant by "open source" is that aside from the equipment neccessary there is no "licensing" cost or fees. For instance, Kermit is not an open source character--if someone wanted to use him in their work, licensing fees and all sorts of other legal hoo-hah...

Ok Forgive me if I'm taking over here, but to get this thing off the ground: keith--Would you be willing to be webmaster for this? If so, can/would you arrange a decent 'free' website for us? We need something that serves as a point of contact for the contributors as well as allowing...

Recap and a BUMP! So to recap: From what I understand, we've got a team of inept invaders scouting out different things and learning about the culture so they can take over the Earth. They report back to a leader, Sargeant Sarcon (? Did we decide on this?), who is only slightly more able to...

    Cookie Monster

Try the Consumer Monster website. I forget the URL right now but you'll find it if you google it. When I originally read your post, I thought you meant that the arms were constructed separately and then attached to the body. That's a little trickier. If all you want is a head to go on one...

    Premade Animatronics

Prebuilt Animatronics Another way to go would be to "hack" an animatronic toy like "Furby" or those singing fish wall plaques. There are tutorials all over the net about it. However, unless you do some MAJOR electronics work you're going to be limited (in most cases) to the pre-recorded...

    Moving Muppet Faces

eye mechs and such I know there were several drawings of things like that on the forum. While it's not muppets try searching for Figuremaking can be Fun. It is aimed at making Ventriloquism mechs, but the operation is similar. I also think Puppet Planet had a dissection of an old Fisher...

Type of Monster How about any of those? Look at Sesame Street--they have plenty of Monsters but each is unique in its own way. If we are going with the quasi-military idea, how about a badge or something that could serve as a uniform? It would have to be an easily reproducible shape, that...

Creatures When we were talking about the characters,I got to thinking. How about some generic "practical hands" monsters, like Telly or Cookie? I've seen some good looking characters here. In the thread about constructing a Rowlf puppet, I saw a guideline for how to make a body. I think that...

Adding arm rods to an existing puppet

Do you want to re-make the puppet's arms? If you did, you could put in arm rods then. Otherwise, I would make some removable arm rods like this take the prickly part of a strip of velcro that matches the skin or fur and cover it with the same fabric used to make the skin or fur so that it...

    A Big Bird puppet

For Fursuits/Mascots, try Nicodemus' fursuit pages. RavageFrackle also has some pictures of "Nim-Nim", the Big-Bird counterpart from the Egyptian Sesame Street. Perhaps these will give you some ideas. The link to his site is in his signature.

    Rowlf Puppet

It's not a true "pattern" but try looking for the "Consumer Monster" on Google. (I don't remember its link offhand.) The puppet is a similar type to Rowlf, and should give you some ideas. Hope this helps, Jason

Could this be a real prop of Hoggle?

Do we need to get the bus? I've got the whoopee cushion and peanut butter!

    Coverings other than fleece?

Coverings other than fleece Wow. That's a large question. It really depends on the character. You could leave the foam uncovered and dye it. You can also use fur, felt, or terry cloth. I think I've even heard of some characters being made out of carpet. It all depends on the look you want.

    Who owns Gorch?

True, but with today's "milk a show for all its worth" mentality, I don't think it would be that big a stretch licensing wise. They make DVD's of shows even before they're off the air now. It also might help them gain some audience share by introducing these sketches on video. Just because...

    Who owns Gorch?

Forgive me if this has already been answered, but who owns the SNL Gorch sketches? Perhaps if they aren't owned by NBC the owners could put out a DVD with all the sketches. I for one would really like to see them. I've only caught a few glimpses of them on certain retrospectives.

    Miss Piggy Went Brunette!

With all the discussion about new/old Piggy and whatnot, I was wondering if anyone else had seen her new look and what they thought. IMHO I think its not a bad look for her, but I prefer her blonde. What about you? Danny at ToughPigs has some pics...

Cows and other obscure SS stuff

Whew! Thanks Bear! I'm glad I actually remembered something. BTW I posted these in the "letter sketches" thread, but does anyone remember an animated sketch about letters falling in love? All I can remember is the line "they're not lonely anymore." I was also wondering about the...
