I have a few more questions:
1. I know that there was Gladys, but werent there a couple of other Muppet cows that were used? I think there was a black and white one and perhaps one other.
2. Was there a song called "Fuzzy and Blue?" I think it was Grover and someone else singing.

Anything Muppets
Thanks for clearing that up! I had noticed that certain characters looked similar, but it never clicked that that was how they did it. It makes sense because it would be horribly impractical to build unique puppets for a once-off part. How were the various parts attached...
Perhaps I'm mixing things up, but are Fat Blue and Sam the Soundman the same puppet? My fuzzy memory says they look the same, but I could be wrong.
Also, Did they both do 'restaurant' sketches with Grover?
Thanks for your help,
Jason
The eye blink is a mechanism that has been discussed many times on this forum. Try the "search function." Basically his eyes are rigged so that when you press a lever the eyelids roll back. Puppet Planet has a picture tutorial about these mechs. As for the nose, I think it was carved and...
I just watched "Herbie: Fully Loaded" and was wondering, could Herbie be considered a puppet? (I know some of the effects were CGI, but bear with me.) Animatronics were once considered puppetry so would this be puppetry too, or just a gimmicked car?
I'm not sure about the others, but I think one of the earliest Simon Soundman sketches was with Grover at the restaurant. Maybe the Count would know.

Ostrich Feather Sources
Try an "arts and crafts" type store like Hobby Lobby or Michaels. Another place you might look is a place that carries Millnery (hat making supplies.) If worst comes to worst, get a plain old (clean) feather duster and pull the individual feathers.
Hope this helps...
I brought this up in a thread a while back, and I got to thinking about it.
I read about the Creature Shop trying to blend CGI and puppetry by using the Henson control system. I think the mosquitoes in MTI were performed like this.
For those that are unfamiliar with it, the Henson control...
I think they actually did have bicycle horns built into their nose and ears. I know that the "dinger" had a small bellhop's bell on his head so I don't know why they wouldn't do it that way.
While MWoO wasn't the greatest Muppet production ever done, it does show promise. While I do have some issues with it, I really think that all things considered they did a good job of "muppetizing" the Wizard of Oz. As this script shows, it is hard to meld a recognizable character with another...
Live Puppeteering of a CG character
Perhaps I'm a little off topic here, but since we're discussing puppetry and animation, I thought I read something about a system where the Henson control system was used to control a CGI character, effectively enabling "real-time" animation. Has anyone seen...
I don't have any experience with this, but I've seen outtake clips where the puppeteers were just using their own voices and ad-libbing. Some of the jokes were situational and some were actually good enough that the script was rewritten in post production to include the joke when the actual...
Knitted Puppet
The only other hand-knitted puppets I've seen were on a locally-produced public access show in my hometown. (Textile people could argue that most of the fabric used to make the skins of puppets is knitted.) They had some characters called the "knit-wits" who looked like...
Hmmmmmmmmm....
Given their dynamics I'd say it was an accident. It just seems to me that there is something besides the usual boss/assistant thing in their relationship. Like in the sketch where  legs stretch and  says "I never knew you wore stripey socks." It's almost a s/m...
Thanks!
Thanks for your comments!
Actually the concept wasn't that hard. I found a link for a sock puppet "recipe" on the internet and followed it. For those that understand a little about knitting, The puppet is kind of a combination of a sock and a mitten. The crown of the head is the...
