She didn't start on the show until 1976. I moved to California in 1975, so the last time I visited the set was probably 1974.
The only two of the live cast I ever saw were Luis and Maria. Most of the other times I visited, they were only taping Muppet segments.
I was there the day they...
Sorry for resurrecting this old thread, but I just saw these at Comic-Con two weeks ago. They are still using the same figures and calling them prototypes. My reaction on seeing them was that Ernie was too tall... and that was before I read any of this thread. So, they haven't changed him...
Jane is credited as being Ernie's right arm in the first season (maybe not in the actual show credits, but elsewhere). I'm 99% sure I remember seeing a picture of her and Jim performing Ernie, when Ernie had a different colored shirt than the one we have come to be used to.
As for the...
You discovered my secret! I've had an Annual Pass since they first started selling them. It takes all the pressure out of going because you don't feel like there's anything you have to do on any particular trip. Sometimes I just go for dinner, walk around and watch the fireworks.
Have you...
That's true. However, when they were available, they did tape street segments. I saw them tape a Cookie Monster bit with Luis in the Fix-It Shop once. So, only Frank Oz and one other puppeteer (I don't recall who it was... no one I recognized) who did Cookie's right arm had to be there. It...
We're getting wayyyyyyyyyy off topic here, but since we're already here...
I just finished work on four sets. They are:
Huckleberry Hound: Complete Seasons 1 & 2
Yogi Bear: The Complete Series
The Flintstones: Season 4
Tom and Jerry: Spotlight Collection 2
There are some great...
They were on the schedule at one point, but the films are in such bad shape that they were pulled. Hopefully, after some restoration, they will be put back on the schedule.
:p
Thanks for asking.
I do a wide variety of projects now, but mostly I write cartoons and comic books. With a partner, I just sold a brand-new short to Nickelodeon. We start production next month.
For Warner Home Video, I worked on a number of Hanna-Barbera DVD sets.
Earlier this year...
John Landis was only Grover.
I seriously doubt that Jane was there. She seems to have pulled back from performing around 1976. It was only a few years after The Muppet Movie was filmed that she and Jim were legally separated. My guess is she was in NY with the kids, who were still younger...
Thank you! I would love to be a guest.
I now have the dubious distinction of being the guy that knew the guys. Not only with the Muppets, but in other fields as well. I'm always being interviewed on animation DVD sets because I worked with all the big names -- Disney's Nine Old Men, Friz...
A name was given and unfortunately I can't remember what it was. They did show a clip and explained how the technology had advanced to the point of being able to perform multiple characters at the same time in the same scene.
When they first developed Waldo, it took a roomful of computer...
Thanks, Mike! Reeves Teletape it was! And I was only off by a block. Pretty good, considering it's been over 30 years since I was there.
By the way, another interesting fact that wasn't mentioned in the other thread is that the Muppets taped all their bits for the season in one month...
I wish I could remember the name of the original studio they shot in. It used to be listed in the end credits on the Friday shows. It was somewhere around W. 80th Street and Broadway.
The studio was so small that they use to hang Mr. Snuffleupagus from the rafters when he was not in use to...
It was nice to see Karen Prell on the Henson panel at the San Diego Comic-Con International. Although she didn't get to speak much, she did thank the fans for their campaign to bring Fraggle Rock to DVD.
:p
I think it was a little of each. He had to make it known to Jim that he was interested in doing more than being a utility man, and then proving that he could do it.
:p
In the very early days of Sesame Street, he did perform and then would lend a hand (pun intended) as needed. For the most part, though, he worked behind the scenes.
I do know why he left, but as it's very personal, I would rather not discuss it without his permission.
:p
Not Waldo specifically, but the Jim Henson Company just announced at Comic-Con that they are doing a new pre-school show based on the technology first developed for Waldo.
:p
Part Four
When we came back to the stage, the rainbow scrim was down. Which basically means, we were back to square one, starting all over again. Take after take after... well, you get the idea! Not only did the puppeteers have to turn in an acceptable performance, but there was an elaborate...
