So you want to audition for the Muppets?

I think you've hit the nail on the head exactly! Very well put. :p

So you want to audition for the Muppets?

I don't believe this is about replacing any of the current Muppeteers in any sort of way. It seems like they want the Muppet characters to be able to make personal appearances when the main guys aren't available or it isn't practical to send them. And Disney may have locked in on one set...

So you want to audition for the Muppets?

Nothing is impossible and I never say never... but I'd be shocked if they have professional puppets that they let 400 people put on. Not to mention that these auditions are being held in three different cities, which probably means more like 1200 people. :p

So you want to audition for the Muppets?

This is where moral values come in. I know of people in the voice-over community who have been asked to audition for a role that is being played by someone else. If you have any values, you refuse, unless the other person gives you permission. I don't think Disney is foolish enough to not...

Will Waldo ever come to TV?

Sorry this took so long, but the name of the show is "Frances", based on the Frances Treasury of books. It is slated to air in 2006. They say it is "created by the The Jim Henson Company's revolutionary digital puppetry system". :p

Behind the Scenes of "The Muppet Movie"

This is not a Muppet story, per se, but it is related. Check out the story I just posted on the thread titled "The PBS Gig" on the Puppetry Forum. It'll give you a little more of my background. :p

    The PBS Gig

I don't mean to highjack this thread, but the title of it is perfect for my story, too. I was working for New Jersey Public Broadcasting as an engineer. I ran video tape, telecine and master control. They used to do a live newscast everyday and they were looking for a new weather person...

Behind the Scenes of "The Muppet Movie"

Go back to Page 1 of this thread and read post #7. I think it will answer your questions. If you still want to know more, I'd be happy to elaborate. :p

He said his name was "Statler". Weird name, huh? I wasn't sure if that was his first name or last name, so I just called him "Sir". :p

Behind the Scenes of "The Muppet Movie"

Well, I got a call back from a very nice man who said he wished he had spoken to me about 6 weeks ago. As I suspected, it is already finished. :p

    Avenue Q London

I heard a rumor that John Tartaglia and Rick Lyon might do the Vegas production for a while in the beginning, but neither of them will confirm or deny it. :p

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!! I am soooooooooooooo old! :p

Behind the Scenes of "The Muppet Movie"

I know! Movie special effects are no fun anymore because they can do anything. They used to have to be really clever and inventive. They don't nowadays. :p

Behind the Scenes of "The Muppet Movie"

Addendum... or Part Five (of Four) During the making of the movie, the Henson people had constructed these chairs for puppeteering from the floor. Basically, they were plastic seats with the legs removed, then mounted to metal frames with four coasters on them. The seat backs could be tilted...

    First Season Performers

This reminds me of one more story... sort of an addendum... which I'll add to the thread "Behind the Scenes of The Muppet Movie". :p

    First Season Performers

I'm afraid my attention was more on Frank Oz and Cookie Monster. It was interesting, because he had to sit on the floor and put the bottom of Cookie behind his head so he could see the monitor. This was on the street and not in one of the usual Muppet sets that are built up off the ground so...

Behind the Scenes of "The Muppet Movie"

No, I haven't. But it's a good idea. Do you if it's Disney Home Video that's putting it out or is it The Jim Henson Company? The only problem, of course, is if it's planned for November, it might be finished already. :p

    First Season Performers

The secret of being on a set and being invited back is simple: stay out of the way. I always try to be real inconspicuous when I'm on a set. I pretty much blend into the background. All this is to say that I didn't speak to them. You have to be very careful with actors. They are "at work"...

    transporting Mr. Snuffleupagus

I don't think it's Big Bird's head that's the problem. They probably have custom made cases for that, as they do with other puppets. It's his body that's so fragile. He sheds feathers all the time. I have one that I picked up off the floor of the studio one time when I was there. I think if...

Behind the Scenes of "The Muppet Movie"

Hmm, I haven't... But I probably should. I've just been dropping little stories here and there around the forum. After I get The Muppet Movie article pulled together, maybe I can work on that. :p
