hehe that's assuming you get paid for this type of thing.
Actually I do get paid, but it's always post-performance. & it's not that much, but, yeah, I can't exactly wait until the show is done to start...or can I? (oh mr. flux capacitor?)
I went ahead and started with the lamb. I made a...
Ohhh yah also pretend that you're not leaving on Saturday for Denver for 10 days...did I forget to mention that?
I really was curious how much time you *would* give yourself taking out all of the other factors, and maybe factoring in that flux capacitors are on sale at Michael's, 2 for 1.
The...
I always push myself to the last-minute. I'm sure not everyone does this as this is one of the most irresponsible things I do in my life & most of you seem to be fairly responsible people.
So, let's say you have a show on the first Friday & Saturday of January. Let's go ahead and say you have...
From working in the character department at Disney, I'm going to second Onath's request for lots of space for the puppeteer. Lightweight is also key.
One thing you might want to do is draw it one more time with a human figure inside. Maybe some graph paper so you can easily translate how big...
while that's a good looking tutorial, I wouldn't get styrofoam for a moving mouth hand puppet.. It tends to be difficult to manipulate (for me) & takes more work to make it look soft & fleshy.
Have you tried looking at http://www.projectpuppet.com ? Their glorified sock puppet is a great...
It's been awhile since I've made any finger puppets. I suppose I needed a break. While I didn't get pictures of my masked chickens, I did get cabbage's photo this evening (with poor lighting, of course)
hope you like him!

The Puppeteers of America has a puppetry store with several books with scripts for schools...some can be pretty lame, so watch out for that. Basically if you're 2 ounces of bored, your kids will be 8x that much. Still there might be some fun ones to check out.
You also might want to think about...
the eyeballs on my tiny finger puppets (they're about 2" tall at most) are white pom-poms. I use glass seed beads as the pupil.
I use larger poms on larger puppets, too. I love them. John Kennedy turned me onto the bigger ones.
If you want non-googly eyes on a sting-ray, then just use the...
Kuriboh, are you speaking of the mouth-plate? I usually sew mine in. It really depends on the method of puppet-building you're using, I think. For example, I believe that the foam book has you make your mouth-pate & then build the puppet around it. Its been awhile since Ive done it that way...
I think the great thing about it is that if you shape it to look like chicken, it tastes like chicken, and if you mash it up to look like cheese chunks, it tastes like cheese chunks. Most diverse foam ever.
