I made this giant green guy out of foam and fabric he's not too heavy, it took a little while to get used to it but I can use it for a long time now. He is about 3ft tall and a pretty big arm span your hands slide in at the elbow. You can see a video of my guy here...
Small tight stitches and take your time. If you rush it, it will never turn out well. There are lots of websites with stitches and diagrams. Try a google search for whipstitch, baseball stitch, ladder stitch, and blanket stitch that should help with most puppetry sewing needs.
In regards to your question What do I do with my puppets? First off as an art school graduate it is nice to make something some actually wants to buy. Many of my puppets are made for specific people. It seems that recently I have been making more puppets for other people than myself. Which is...
Thanks for the advice, I actually opted for no spikes and built a little vest with a skull and cross bones on the back instead. There are pics of the finished puppet in the punk rock puppet thread.
I downloaded it on a mac. No problems so that must not be it tim. By the way I didn't expect each session to be 30 pages that is awesome. Good job on the tutorial.
Nice job, can't wait to see more. You may want to think about a nice space background for him, But, I like the simple black too with a little lighting on him so he has a little glow. Awesome job!
