i second that. the muppet/human interaction is my favorite part of the show! besides this generation of kids not getting to know the characters of the cast members, it changes the whole dynamic of the show. it's less like a realistic street, where people of all different ages live and interact...
couple weeks ago i had one of those anxiety dreams where you want to get somewhere and you can't....i dreamed i woke up in a hotel room and heard big bird's voice, looked out the window and saw caroll was performing the bird in front of the hotel. naturally, i wanted to rush down asap, but i...
i've just been reading this thread & i've gotta say, i think it's way cool that the muppets are so timeless that people from their teens to their 40s who have such diverse non-muppet interests all have fun here.
about moi...i'm a graduate student in history, studying european empires in the...
well, it hardly was. look at the credits--who are all those people? it was for CBS & they used their studio guys for writing, production, directing, music, etc. waaaay down at the bottom they list dave connell and ron weaver as ctw production consultants, but that & the actors seem to be the...
this one's my favorite--he's surprisingly jazzy when he goes to the music store, although i don't know why he needs to buy a trumpet when he can sound just like them! the song at the end sounds like Brotherhood of Man from the musical How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying...
definitely, but i think fozzie's point is that we then translate that distaste to the character of abby or elmo in a way that we probably didn't do for grover or ernie when they got segments, and probably wouldn't if it was a classic character rumored to get a segment.
that's a good point, fozzie. what was the reaction to global grover? & speaking of don music, his sketches are fairly long and they're all variations on the same joke, with the same catch phrase, yet we like them specifically for that... maybe the 26 episode seasons are the problem--writers &...
awww, it's not ALL bad...it has its moments
agreed--too many celebrities for no apparent reason, a problem that has plagued other SS plots... i have to side with Oscar on this one: "Wanna know what drives me bananas about the holiday season? It's all the unexpected company!" but i love the...
wow--beautiful! i love the specials at hooper's! :-) & although i thought i'd see a birdseed milkshake on the menu, maybe it's absence is just proof that hooper's is the quintessential neighborhood store that knows its regular customers and will make them things they like that aren't on the...
yes! not only were kids and grownups of all ages present, but they interacted with each other in the scenes, so it showed the street as a community. i was just thinking about this b/c of doctor13's post in the season 39 thread, too. i always think of a bunch of random kids playing in the...
i think you're right, Drtooth, the problem is in the structure but they want to change it. so i think they will change it eventually, but i think they're using the internet to help them get the content and formats they want out to their target audience of pre-schoolers. whoever said it's not...
so let's do something about it!
exactly! i agree wholehartedly. see my post in the made in ny thread for more on what they were saying about the new media. (which i think you read anyway, ilikemuppets, but i maybe others will read it if i link it in this thread....)
and not only does it...
when i was little, SS was my introduction into pop culture b/c dad would laugh and i'd ask why & he'd explain the parody...so i guess some things never change. i don't watch much tv, but i just watched a bunch of 30 rock b/c i'd seen the SS parody...& one of the episodes i watched was the one...
i wouldn't be surprised if she does get her own segment, but i think it would have the potential to be good. one of the things that got mentioned at the made in new york panel was that their new research shows that with the proliferation of movies & tv shows for tots, even very little kids are...
wow. that was weird. but i liked it. kinda like that early muppet clip with rex robbins on the ed sullivan show. didn't know the same laws applied to established characters, though. it's a great idea for a promo, but i wonder if it would have been better to use an actual whatnot, so people...
Grover in Casablanca
Grover with Cleo from Between the Lions in an ad for PBS Kids "Ready to Learn" initiative. it's funny how SS has been mimicking advertisement format so well in the show for 40 years that now they're pretty good at making real ads!

do you still have them for sale? i may be interested...
also, i have sesam 2, which i've put in mp3 format. drop me a line through the "send private message" thing on the forum if you're interested...
