I just looked at the tutorial. GREAT stuff. I have one question, though: how do you get the hand to pop back out into an open state? In my limited tests with controllable hands, I've run into the problem that the hand stays closed.
I was unaware of Piotr; I'll have to check it out. The Ask Palpatine gag -- which I'm very surprised hadn't already been done -- came out of a conversation with my little brother, the specifics of which I actually don't recall. It was some mass of Star Wars geekery, whatever it was.
Thanks! I haven't built the newscaster yet, no, but I will do. (I only just drew him the other day; I was able to whip the Emperor together so quickly because I repurposed a head I'd already built)
As for Mumm-ra, that could work. Hmmmm.
That's a good point, and it'll depend largely on the types of questions (which have so far been of that type) the Emperor gets sent.
I suppose, though, if I were to carry the gag through, I should have Palpatine just imagine the questions, claiming to be retrieving them from the minds of people...
It's true. Whatever possible excuses I might have had for not being a geek have permanently evaporated, what with my building an Emperor Palpatine puppet.
Sigh.
Hey guys,
The new show, so hastily assembled it's ridiculous, is up. And it looks surprisingly good, all things considered. I hope you'll check it out:

I've got the first episode/question up, but have already received a number of them, so will have fodder for more...
Thanks! And thank for the questions. I was thinking of doing a couple sample questions, first (if I do that kind of show at all), like "Which Jedi was the biggest wuss." But if I do it, I'll definitely use the question. :)
Hey guys,
Because I like to procrastinate, and I have a lot of non-day-job things to procrastinate about, I did a couple puppet designs. One's a lot rougher than the other.

Thanks, Andrew. It'll get better, I think, when I get into more specifics; I'm still finding the pace of it, I think.
I saw your comment: I've heard only good things about the camera, and can't wait to be able to get one. :)
In case anyone's interested, I'm continuing my rambly behind-the-scenes look at how the next season of dotBoom, and the other shows, are being created. This is the second part of my Process overview. Once that's done, there'll be some interview segments with one of my writers, Nick, then...
It really depends which part of Canada you come to; some may indeed be colder than Denver, but some are warmer.
As far as Spanish goes, we speak French as our second language here. But you don't need to learn it if you're not in Quebec, because we've got a bit of a love-hate thing going on with...
It's a longform attempt to get him to appear on dotBoom. I explain it here:
http://www.blog.hoggworks.com/blog/2007/12/19/25-promotional-things/
But the gist is that I'm making the puppet, filming some kind of "Colbert Puppet Challenge" and trying to get him to appear on the show (to voice the...
I decided I wanted my Colbert puppet, which will be, if my crazy plan comes even remotely close to fruition, the most viewed thing I've yet done, to be as close to perfect as I can possibly make it. As such I'm redesigning, going to order some of the nice reticulated foam to do my very first...
You're absolutely right; human depravity is common. :)
I don't think I went quite as far as Feebles, but I *did* go out there on some occasions with my show.
