Certainly puppetise! We've already have had a few orders from Australia.
Could you build a Kermit with it? It wouldn't be an exact replica, but you probably could build a recognizable Kermit with it. The pattern is very basic and quite versatile when it comes to characters.
Thanks guys! I can't wait until we get some pictures of our customers' characters for the gallery. It's always great to see what others do with the same pattern.
Hey all! Just wanted to let you know we have a new pattern up at Project Puppet - The Glorified Sock Puppet Pattern. It's a really cool little pattern, back to basics, our ode to the sock.
It's simplicity shouldn't be underestimated, however. There are many a great glorified sock puppets -...
Another cool puppet Lab Rat! Your characters are so clean and polished. I enjoy them a lot.
Hi BuckyBits. Mendels has a good selection of fur including the 3 inch long shag fur. Check out the post entitled Puppeteer's Resource Link at the top of the puppetry section of the MC Forum for more...
I use Rit! I'm not an expert on the difference in dyes, but Rit has worked for me for polyfoam, reticulated foam, and antron fleece. I just vary the amount of dye for lighter and darker shades and the temperature of the water for vibrance. The hotter the water the more vibrant the color, usually.
My guess is that if there are "noticeable humps" where the seams are, it was probably machine sewn and left untrimmed. But really, I agree with Ravage, overall it looks good. Personally, I'd leave him as is.
Hey TopperFraggle. It's been my experience that the stitching does matter. I guess not necessarily the stitch, but hand stitching - even with a simple whipstitch - will always hide seams better than machine sewing. Machine sewing seems to trap (and hang onto) more of the fiber of the fleece. The...
Hey pepestarr -
If you are not looking for an exact likeness and would be pleased with a finished puppet that would be recognizable as a Muppet character, then you may have some options with Project Puppet patterns. The Rotondo Pattern could be used for Elmo, The Count, Mumford, Forgetful...
This is a great thread!
My opinion is that the story is everything. And, also in my opinion, skillful story-telling is equally if not slightly more important than the story itself. No matter how great a character is, the personality of the character can only be expressed to and understood by...
Thanks Sean. I'm so impressed with your attention to detail. I've got a couple of old buddies in northern California - I'll have to pay them a visit this summer. :)
Hey Sean. I just wanted to say I really enjoyed The Mystery of Cobblestone Way and The Magic Meadow and I can only imagine how great one of your live performances would be. Most of the time, I am disappointed in live puppet shows - I think because some puppet companies forget the power of...
Great stuff Sean! I just watched The Mystery of Cobblestone Way and The Magic Meadow. Both are really cool. Seems like you put a lot of effort into setting the mood and keeping a "look" throughout.
What did you use to build the Racoons' tree stump house?
You mean it's not just me? Eventually, one learns to WALK AWAY - GO TAKE A NAP! You can sometimes see the solutions more clearly after leaving the problem rest for a while.
Looking good Snark! Ravages advice should get you over the hump.
