Hi greatoldies4you:
AFAIK all the UK releases are uncut; however, they are also unplayable in the average US video recorder. Different video standards...
I may be able to assist you with a conversion - please feel free to drop me a private email.
Hi,
As the subject says! I'm only really in need of the soundtrack (in English :-), but I'd prefer a copy on VHS/SVHS rather than cassette if possible.
If you can help me out, please contact me. I have a fair amount of material to offer in trade, so I'm sure we could work something out :-)...
Ker-ching! Thanks - I *thought* I'd read something about that recently. That would explain the 3-4 minute difference. Now, the question that remains is, which version did Disney submit to the BBFC...? My guess would be that they sent the theatrical print in by mistake :-)
Thanks!
Alex
Does anybody know if there is more than one cut of the movie? The UK DVD release has just been announced, and after checking into it, the various online retailers all list it as running to about 85 minutes, but the BBFC have it down as about 82 minutes.
Some more digging led to the following...
I can get past that bit, thanks. However, since I don't have Flash, I can't see the menubar, so navigation is limited to the links at the bottom of the page :-( Any chance of a non-Flash menubar being provided? It could appear if the browser doesn't have Flash installed, or alternatively it...
For God's sake, get rid of the Flash (or at least provide some kind of alternative)! I didn't have it installed for a variety of very good reasons (indeed, there is no Flash plugin for one of the browsers I use), and I do not want to have to wade through it! It's making this otherwise...
The widescreen transfers used for the laserdiscs are letterboxed, and wouldn't be any use in producing a proper widescreen DVD. Plus, they'd have to be redone for the European market as there was never a laserdisc release over here so far as I know, and a US-format transfer would not be of...
Er...nope, not as yet. There's one DVD which contains a couple of episodes, a best-of compilation, and 'Of Muppets and Men', but that's been it so far for the UK. There was a VHS boxset of 36 shows released last autumn, though. Pretty good value for £30 :-)
I think the edits were originally done for a TV repeat in order to get more advertising in. Subsequent
US video releases have for some reason used the edited version, whereas the UK releases got the complete
thing. The German home video release (done by the same company as the UK one) also...
Thanks! This being a family forum, I probably shouldn't post the reason I picked it :-)
Regarding Xmas specials, I rather liked 'A Christmas Together', and man was that a pain to get hold of!
Reached no 7 around May 1977, in fact :-) If that's it (in which case it seems odd that they didn't simply take the clip from the original episode), it still wouldn't explain how it wound up edited into an overseas copy of TMS...
The photo on the single's sleeve suggests the yellow/brown lit...
Yup! Clueless and Polly had a regular sketch on the show, along with a (mostly) unseen hairy character called Mr Callaghan. I didn't know these bits were cut for the US transmissions, though.
I have two copies of the episode; one is an English-language off-air VHS courtesy of the Disney Channel, the other is a German-language off-air from digital satellite in AVI format. Barring minor edits for timing or untranslateable dialogue, the only differences between the two are the credits...
