However, some things to bear in mind: these have neither an English soundtrack nor subtitles; they're the French versions of the show (ie, the Doc/Sprockett and Traveling Matt segments are different); and they're PAL conversions from the...
They don't. However, unless a complaint is filed with eBay, they're unlikely to have even noticed the listing. And it's the copyright holder who has to make the complaint.
Judging by the list of shows on these discs, every single one of them has been downloaded from the net. Otherwise...
I sincerely hope that the '4 DVDs' is a typo! Putting 9 25-minute shows on a single disc is just asking for trouble. *Eight* is the absolute limit, and I'd have gone with six - which makes more sense, since there are six tapes in the VHS set!

Could anybody tell me the date this special was originally broadcast, please? I know it was 1987, and I'm guessing December ;-) but I'd like to know the actual date...

All bar four of the shows come from DVD releases - either the US or the French ones. Of the others, three come from VHS copies of Dutch broadcasts of the show, and the fourth from a UK VHS release.
As I said earlier, things have changed a lot since 1996! I wouldn't be at all surprised if the BBFC would now pass MTI uncut. The point is that Disney didn't even bother to ask, they just grabbed the same version that was put out on VHS back in '96.
