Look closely. Steve DOES have Kermit at Jim's angle throughout most of the video. Obviously when Kermit has to look up at the writers, his look's going to change a little. If there is any issue here, it's the camera angle. But, honestly, I think he looks fine... in fact, he looks pretty darn...
According to Hary Belafonte, the Muppets did two table reads on The Muppet Show. One was without the Muppets (which he said was fairly boring), one with the puppet characters, which he said was when the show came to life. It's likely that the Muppet performers still stick to this formula.
It truly is a great scene, isn't it? :)
I always liked The Great Muppet Caper the best, though I think my favorite musical moment from it is "Steppin' Out With a Star." It's such a fun scene, and a surprisingly complicated shoot... but it looks so simple! And it's one of my favorite songs...
Well, isn't it obvious? Communists own the networks!
But, seriously, no clue. Maybe because the networks think these movies are too sophisticated and intelligent for today's viewing audience?
Some of my personal favorite Movie Musical moments (not counting Muppets):
"I Believe in You/Gotta Stop That Man" - How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying
"A Hymn to Him" - My Fair Lady
"Hello, I Must Be Going" - Animal Crackers
"Me Ol' Bamboo" - Chitty Chitty Bang Bang...
A quick list:
Fraggle Rock Season 3
Fraggle Rock Season 4 (I think)
Sesame Street Old Scool Volumes 1 and 2
Sesame Street: 40 Years of Sunny Days
Dinosaurs, both DVD sets feature "Dino Eggs"
I believe that's all... for now.
I think American Idol could be a lot better if they made it more about the contest and less about the drama. Contest shows and game shows are "okay" by me, but it's things like Survivor and The Bachelor that I don't understand. Dating shows tend to be cruel, and they steal time away from good...
I have to admit, I've been cautiously skeptical about this, about anything Muppet-related. Especially with the delay of Season 4. But this... I'm super excited! The fact that they recorded for the DVD is amazing. Disney-released DVDs have been sadly short on behind-the-scenes footage. It seems...
Very cool, Scott! I'm not into Facebook, but I'm very glad to see Muppet Wiki being promoted more. I think it's the absolute best thing to happen to Muppet fandom since the Muppet Show fan club. And since that is included on Muppet Wiki, I don't have to be jealous of those who actually were part...
Uncle-friggin'-Deadly is gonna be in this? ? ? COOL!
I love this! I love his description of the Muppets! "The gateway drug for comedy nerds." How true!
And... who knew there was a Muppet Bible? I want that!
EEEEEE!
:) :)
Ooops! Sorry I didn't catch this.
I'm glad you like them, Fragglemuppet! I have wanted to do a few more. Just not sure who to work with next...
www.toughpigs.com has a very, very nice tribute to Jim.
Today, I drove to work with the windows down, blaring Muppet music as loud as I could stand it. Hopefully someone else heard. :)
Oooh! Interesting. I think I like it. I'm not a big supporter of the "Gobo/Red relationship" thing, but as fan art it's very nice.
Bravo! :smirk: :excited:
I do prefer older music/television/movies, but there is still some great stuff coming out... it's just rare.
As Jamie mentioned, How to Train Your Dragon was surprisingly good. I'd go so far as to say it's Dreamworks best movie (and I liked Kung Fu Panda alot). The Dark Knight blew all other...
I just listened to the demo on his website. I don't hear it. I don't understand why people think it sounds closer to Jim than Steve. To me it sounds like... well, my own Kermit impression, and that is not a good thing.
You can accuse my of being biased on this, I don't believe I am. I hate...
I have watched the videos since the "initial shock." It didn't change my opinion.
I have nothing against Artie. But, honestly, it wasn't Kermit. If he was given time to grow into the character, maybe it would be, but why should he need to grow into the character when you can use the ACTUAL...
Yup. Exclusive interviews with Jim, Frank Oz, Jane Henson... and I think Dave Lazer and Lew Grade are in it too.
The whole special opens with a funny bit between Jim Henson and Big Bird. :wisdom:
No, Frank Oz is Piggy's limo driver (see previously linked-to thread). Neil could play... I dunno. Jason Segel's suit-wearing pal, Barney? :p
Maybe Dr. Horrible coul appear as Dr. Phil Van Neuter's old college roommate... Of course, that's a better set up for a television series.
