only real current project is something im doing thru the puppet works theatre in brooklyn, getting ready for a marrionette show in boston, and in new york
not really most people think its pretty cool, personally, i think it would be cooler if i could pay my bills better doing this , but whatever,
i dont get tired of thse questions, as long as they make sense, i was in a bit of a odd argument with some one on here(not in this topic) who insited...
wasnt speaking so much about your core groupp people, they get paid very well and dont really need to do other things, but there are other performers, that while they may be featured, they dont only work for henson , noel macneil has done other things, since his bear hey day, while he still...
very true, it unfortunate that the only thing people really think of when you say puppet is the hand mouth style made famous by Jim, there are lots of interesting stlyes of puppet and puppet theatre out there, from marionettes, to rod puppets, to the indonesian Wayang Gollucks,
the more...
just another thought to any of you out there, i can not stress the importance of building a great resume and porfolio, for any artistic type of job, its more important than you might realize :concern:
and of course all that depends on them continuing to do things, and face facts people, the quality of the shows of late has been dismall, and to be quite frank, despite all the hoobla surounding this wizrad of oz thing, if you take a step back it just looks like a really bad idea, for once i...
exactly, its not 1975 any more, so dont be expecting any miracles , even if disney does more with the muppets, in order to puppeteer for the muppets in film and tv you need to be a member of one of the big actor unions, its not like you can just walk in there and expect them to say ok great...
well i sent in my resume and portfolio, and eventually i got called for a interveiw, then about a year later i called to work on some things, of course i worked at other puppet companies as well, so i had some expeirience under my belt,
thats pretty much it, also a lot of luck on my side i...
why not just watch it, its only about an hour and a half long, if you like it great, if not, thats fine too, its worth a rent at the video store at any rate
be prepared for dissapointment though, they have a large rouster of possible puppeteers, and considering how few jobs they actually have, i would say that you are better off trying to get work with other puppet companys,
face facts , the muppets just dont do a whole lot anymore, even sesame...
when working with contact cement and foam , its interely different that dealing with wood or other materials that the glue is meant for,
use it sparingly, lightly dapping the glue on the edge of the foam, , do this to both surfaces, and let it get tacky, you can speed this by using a hair...
No , unfortunetely, i was just a high school sophmore when Jim passed away, So i never had a chance to meet him, but i was obviously a life long fan of his work, and it is what inspired me to be a puppeteer and puppetbuilder(before anyone asks, no i have never puppeteered for the Muppets in...
ive been here a while i generally only post in the puppet forum, not really interested in talking about the muppets and the henson company all that much, :smirk:
weird i was googling my name today, and found this, pretty neat to do, lol, any way im glad people found me ,
thansk for the nice words all,
oh by the way, i didnt name those frackles mo or scappy,
i called them Rankin and Skankin
well it seems to tell you prices on the site, ie price wise, and lenght, a hank of wig hair seem to look like the extensions women can by at wig shops, or store that specialize in afro american beauty supplies, i think it might be easier to just get a wig and trim it to fit your puppet , sort of...
well , cliffords eyelids, arnt foam, they are fleece, and they are covering a hard plastic eye lid that covers the eye shape, as for the friction you are getting, you will need to play with it, try leaving a small gap betwwen the eye and the lid, but eyelids dont rrest on top of the lid in the...
you can dye foam, rit works reall well,
be sure to pre wet the foam so it takes the dye bath evenly,
peach works well for a basic caucasin skin tone, and by playing with the darker brown tints you can create almost any tone you want, however the color of the faom may affect your resluts...
its the same for puppet builders as well, as a veteran for the workshop i can attest to the difficulties in getting in there, and even once you are there thier are no guarentees that you will be asked back,
its a very fickel industy, and while puppeteers do get a better upfront paycheck than...
