Best weekend ever, and especially great meeting some MC people.
My highlights were of course, giving Gonzo the necklace (trivia: his nose is really scratchy). And the panel, and meeting Elmo (trivia: there is nothing to kill the whole "I'm shy about meeting Elmo" thing than him screaming...
:) I met him too, a few times today. At the booksigning, the photo, and when I gave Gonzo the necklace I made for him after the end of the GMC screening. He really is the coolest dude ever. Gonzo too. And Kevin. All cool dudes.
It was great today as of so far. I have a bunch of pictures I'll put up pretty soon, and some movies of the panel and the Muppets from Space screening, but the movies pretty much start and cut out right at the most terrible time.
Just got back from the Huntington Dave Goelz/Kevin Clash/Fran Brill/Jane Henson panel for a moment with a small Richard story-
Kevin Clash said that he first met Richard Hunt in the bathroom at Macy's, and Richard gave him a pep talk to convince him to go up to Jim and talk about his puppet...
Seems like that's what the Muppeteers were about. If you look at them even briefly, they each marched to the beat of their own drum. The entire career choice sort of requires that, not to mention they were entirely admirable people. And I imagine there was a lot of moral support about the lonely...
Hah thanks so much for posting that picture it's great. ^_^
Ooooh. Interesting video. How do you find these things? Awesome. You know if they show the Muppeteers?
Anytime Skye. ^_^
Any other photos of Richard there? Sweet.
The book...eh. The puppets are pretty much for kids to make, like shoeboxes and spoons and stuff. No foam. But it's pretty nice.
I found it in The Muppets Make Puppets I believe. Not a REALLY rare book, but I've never seen that picture before. So on the Emmet Otter DVD, was it an actual scene, or just a picture?
In honor of Richard's coming birthday, I found my camera. And was able to take a picture of this rare Richard photo I found in this rare-ish Muppet book. Maybe you've seen it before, I 'unno. But here it is, hosted (the quality's sort of bad, but he is on the lower right)...
Well that's okay, as she said, the special guests will be around the event the whole weekend, so there are a lot more inexpensive ways to meet them. :)
There's a benefit reception where the special guests that are attending, sort of a meet and greet I guess. There are tickets, $100 each, as a fundraiser. It's on the website, 6:15 on Saturday.
Oh, no, he'll probably speak at the beginning. I'm pretty sure the staff recognizes that people are spending a lot for the benefit and therefore will keep the guest speakers available around for the whole thing.
Not to mention Dave will also be around the building for the whole weekend, so if...
I believe it was Muppetcast or Muppet News Flash that says there will be big news regarding this Huntington event on Wednesday, but this may just be a rumor.
